Halcyon Resurgent

These could be Marathon-Class Cruisers but honestly they look a lot like Halcyon-Class ships to me. If that’s the case then it would appear Humanity rebuilds its fleets by reactivating mothballed ships and fitting them with updated technology. Captain Keyes did comment how great the Pillar of Autumn was after getting new engines and other modern modifications so it would seem the UNSC was impressed enough to reactivate the others.

It’s definitely a lot faster than building new ships from scratch and the Halcyon’s were actually pretty awesome after getting updated tech.

Infinity Fleet 1

Infinity Fleet 2

The Engineers could have had a hand in this right? ONI should have dozens more than the ones from onyx.

Possibly. I’m sure these ships are more advanced than even the Autumn was since they can benefit from Forerunner modifications. I just wonder to what extent? Probably just a few Engine modifications like the Port Stanley if I had to guess.

I wonder if they would switch from their metal slugs to use plasma rounds, didn’t Cortana mention it was highly effective against the Covenant ships when they slapped the Gettysburg and Ascendant Justice?

Probably true but wouldn’t the UNSC also want to get some of the forerunner shield tech as well? I believe that a lack shield technology for the UNSC warships was one of the major reasons covenant ships out classed humanities. I think if UNSC warships had had shields the UNSC would have had a chance to win the war out right.

Not necessarily. Covenant Shields were great at defending against bullets and missiles but even they were susceptible to Plasma. This is demonstrated when Cortana used the Ascendant Justice’s Plasma weapons against other Covenant ships, as well as the ships that fought in the Great Schism.

It’s still possible of course that the Infinity and other ships have Shields though but only if the ships found inside the Shield World had them, or if they had a spare Covenant ship to study?

#1 is just a Autumn Class ship but my bet is these are all more advanced than their original counterparts

#2 is just the infinity.

  1. I’m aware, that’s why the thread is called “Halcyon Resurgent” because the Pillar of Autumn was a Halcyon Class.

  2. Pic 2 is the same shot as pic 1, just a split second later. I posted it because ALL the ships surrounding the Infinity are the same class.

Imagine a tough ship like a Halcyon with energy shields…awesome.

> Imagine a tough ship like a Halcyon with energy shields…awesome.

Words cannot describe the awesomness in that sentence.

> Imagine a tough ship like a Halcyon with energy shields…awesome.

I still think they wouldn’t last long against Plasma but I suppose no protection is better than none. It could protect against smaller fire from attack fighters and would make boarding the vessel a lot harder for enemy forces as well. So it does have uses.

I would say re-activating mothballed ships is most likely the most efficient way to start rebuilding the navy after the beating it took throughout the Human/Covenant war. Then refitting them with the new tech would make sense.

Remember in the concept art trailer there were those ships entering requiem, if those are halycons, they would fall like a brick.

So I think an important upgrade to human ships is they have the ability to enter and leave atmosheres.

They didn’t look like Halycon ships even from that distance.

Master Chief sees new Halcyon class cruisers then says “Aww, do I get to blow those up to?”

Human ships could always enter and leave atmospheres, You see this above new mombasa and more. We now have the ability to jump from anywhere to anywhere i.e. within planets gravity wells etc. I’m guessing that some ships (if upgraded) should now be able to hover essentially like the covenant ships when they glass planets and deploy troops.

They definitely look like Halcyon cruisers to me. I suppose the fleet would also have Destroyers, Frigates and squadrons of Longswords as well?

I wonder where the Infinitys fleet is during H4?

I don’t understand why in 2557 they would be using a class of ship that has been outdated and obsolete for decades upgraded or not. Where did they even find that many Halcyon cruisers? They were all scrapped by the end of the war except for a slight few.

Its mentioned that the UNSC began reclaiming many of the old wrecks around lost planets (or I think it was) since the covenant mainly left those ships untouched after the initial attack. If their previous fleet was mainly composed of halycon class cruisers then its reasonable to expect many of these around here now.

Then again, the class of ship doesn’t matter much at all with all the forerunner improvements (if they are deployed to them). My main thought is that the infinity better have a shield or I am rage quitting Halo.

Do I see some Covenant ships, on the backround of the first image?
