Had my bro over to play Halo today...

Sure would have been nice when my bro came to visit if we could have played some Halo 5 split screen with our friends on live. We all went to play MCC instead, which would’ve been fine if they actually built a working matchmaking system. Spent 10-15 mins in between matches searching for a game. And this all because “nobody plays split screen anymore.”

Yeah, I’m salty. Go ahead and get your flame on.

I’m sorry that I use more Xbox LIVE co-op in one week than I use Splitscreen in one year. I don’t like having only half a screen with lag on top.

Should at least be able to split-screen campaign. No MP split I get

You knew this before you even brought your friend over. Find another reason to complain on the forums, please.

You can blame the garbage hardware for that.

Shouldn’t have been a thing in the first place when the game still looks -Yoink- at a distance when looking at other Spartans or other objects such as lighting in Forge or signs as well… if they’re so hell bent on making the game 60fps, then put in effort to make it look good

Just because you don’t use the feature doesn’t mean others don’t.

343 messed up. They should’ve fixed splitscreen, not remove it. But this topic has already been beaten to death, revived and then beaten to death again and again. All we can do now is hope they bring splitscreen back in the future.

I like to joke that the only reason active camo works is because the anti aliasing in Halo 5 is terrible. Oh well. Game devs are limited by the hardware they’re given so take it up with Microsoft.

I feel your pain.

My son had a birthday party last month and the kids wanted to play Halo 5. Oh well.

We hooked up both our 360’s and all 8 kids played Halo REACH for a few hours. They loved it. 343 has destroyed the franchise. Can’t even stay in the top 10 a few months out…LOL.

And that statement applies to the OP as well. Just because he used it, doesn’t mean everyone did.

343i made their decision, they said that Splitscreen wouldn’t work with the engine they had. To “fix” Splitscreen is to remake the engine, something that costs time and money.

If Splitscreen had as huge an impact as people now say they do, then they probably wouldn’t have removed it in the first place.

Looking at some of the other “top tier” titles that aren’t in the top 10, that doesn’t sound like the biggest deal.

Rainbow 6 Seige was such a big deal prior to it’s release, and that page has it below Halo 5, and it came out over a month later. People were so hype about Gears Ultimate Edition, the other Xbox exclusive that was supposed to be a “Halo-killer”, now everyone is all hush hush about it and it’s not even on the first page.

Interesting how easily some are duped. There are PLENTY of next-gen titles that offer split screen that look as good, or even better than Halo 5. LOL. And guess what. Those same games are in the TOP 10. Guess where halo 5 is…Xbox Games Catalog: All Games | Xbox

Just went over that.

“next-gen titles that offer split screen that look as good, or even better than Halo 5. LOL. And guess what. Those same games are in the TOP 10.” You mean like GOW: Ultimate Edition? Full 1080 and 60 Frames per second, and it’s not even on the first page.

Yoink! While I’m here. The only games in the top 10 that tries to have 1080p, 60FPS, and Splitscreen are:

  • Black Ops III (Not really, tries to reach 60FPS on XB1 but fails in open areas)
  • Star Wars (Nope, 720-900p)I mean, the top 10 consists of GTA V, Minecraft, Fifa, Madden, NBA, and Fallout. Come on now.

Yeah you guys should just get used to Halo without split screen; I have a really strong feeling that it’s not returning to Halo.

No, he just dropped by while he was in town. It wouldn’t have been so bad if MCC actually worked properly. And it didn’t matter if I"knew" this or not. It wouldn’t have changed the fact that our gaming experience sucked because A) Split screen, and B) They couldn’t get the MCC online working the way it’s supposed to. To the point where it’s almost unplayable if you try to go in with a party. And as far as split screen goes, if they couldn’t legitimately figure out how to make it work with their new engine they built, they should have delayed the game until they could make it work, whatever it took. I also don’t doubt for a sec Microsoft pushed for this to sell consoles anyway because of how badly Sony is outdoing them. And before you say anything, I own both consoles. So I’m no fanboy. Just someone who’s sick of paying money and being let down by gaming companies lately.

If that’s the case, than they will lose some of their fan base, myself included. Especially if they pull the same kind of crap with the campaign again like they did with 5. And I mean that whole heartedly. There are plenty other games out there to play. The only reason I’m so vocal about this is because I’ve been playing this game with my friends since I was a kid when the first halo came out. Not easy to walk away from that.

Hahaha yes PC master race. Just kidding I don’t even have a computer yet. But sadly all of this stuff is the consoles fault because consoles are not that powerful.

I understand you mate. I’ve played every halo Splitscreen with my brother since CE on day one.

However, the Xbox one is either far too weak, or 343 was too lazy to do it. IMO, it’s a bit of both. If they were able to get Splitscreen in, it would have to be at 720p or 900p, as the console hardware this time around is weak. Further, the game engine was made to run at 60 fps at all times, so you can’t have Splitscreen with 30 fps.
