Recently streamers and content creators like mint blitz have had their in game names by hackers and some have gotten permanently banned for this. It’s terrifying to think that you could be permanently banned for something you didn’t do. If you look at the why was I banned thread you can see many people who are casual players being permanently banned and with 343s terrible support system in place some don’t know why they have been banned. I just wanted to raise awareness to the issue and hopefully 343 catches wind of this and has this fixed.

They do reply to ban appeals, I’ve been banned for random crashes & disconnects. They couldn’t do anything about it at the time but they did reply. This process is usually slower than a bug report though.
But yeah, this issue has been around for a little while. Not sure if 343 have actually addressed this or not. Hopefully they’re able to do something about it.
the way to change your name in the game is known since xbox 360, I don’t understand why 343 didn’t find a system to block this. if I’m not mistaken on 360 it was something like : ( gamertag spoofer ) i hope 343 will find a solution as soon as possible.

Either you have been caught hacking or someone has used your username and gotten you banned. Best you can do is provide evidence, things like what platform your on cause it is very difficult to hack on the newer generation consoles. Save and submit your videos in temporary files to show that you are not hacking, if you are on xbox go to xbox enforcement and screenshot your reputation. that’s about all I could think of.

The short answer is to submit a ticket if this happened to you. Sending in a support ticket about your own personal ban is exactly what you need to do. 343i may take some time to respond but they will get to you eventually. I know the waiting stinks, believe me, but this is what we have.

For anyone feeling discouraged about a false ban on their own account, I can personally attest that 343i has a means of detecting if this has been done to you. There is hope to get unbanned.
But that is the whole problem isn’t it. It takes you weeks before 343 reverses a unjustified ban and that has already done irrepairable damage, since you missed season points you won’t be able to recollect anymore. And for streamers (as mentioned earlier) it even gets to there incomes, since they can’t stream Halo MP if they are unjustly banned from that.
The banappeals should have way more priority for 343, because the damage is to big. On top of that: not giving any feedback for weeks only gives the appealer the idea that nothing is being done with it and it may discourage them from even starting to play when it is overturned (because they gave up hope and don’t expect it to be solved anymore). 343 should at least give some updates every couple of days, so people know it’s still being worked on.
Another problem is that you can’t properly appeal to a ban, because you don’t even know what you are banned for. It only says you got a ban, but no reason, no mention of when you did something, etc.
I think its extremely reasonable for people to get worried and try and get attention in other ways if they don’t know what they were banned for and if they never hear anything back from 343 for weeks.

Well we can get 12 sp each week, and this way + the seasonal challenges give more points than you had last season each time.
but because of this stupid ban i can only get 5 sp 5.This is a huge problem for me as at the end of each season (other than s1 and s2) i used to have somewhere between 70-95 sp for next season. If this happens then im going to have a hard time unlocking stuff.
Stupid h4 squad battle bug used to throw me out of the game mid game this season and i got a ban upto 3 hrs. I stopped playing it. and it only was in the squad battle. normal h4 was fine.
I cant play fire fight no cgb or matchmaking. yesterday I logged in with my second account to play some matchmaking after a week and it sure felt good. But just all of the sp and unlocks had in that account is gone.
And yes i have submitted ticket for the ban
Someone told me that im banned because I use custom backgrounds. While I dont see it as an issue but if that were the case i should have been banned when cea released. Why now?

Your ban wouldn’t be because custom backgrounds were used. The Easy Anti-Cheat could easily detect and block that if 343i wanted to stop that from happening. I’m fairly sure allowing those files to be user-edited is a deliberate decision even if 343i didn’t deliberately have that feature in mind.
It’s good that you sent in a support ticket. I don’t have anything else to say. This whole exploit sucks.
