Havnt really seen a thread here giving input about using an elite controller to help others decide if its worth the purchase (was sceptical until I tried my friends), so decided to give my impressions after a full week of use!
So first off, yes it does feel MUCH better when holding! Default controllers…I feel like I will break them. I probably could actually. This, nope I hold it and it feels solid and dense. The slight weight actually helps as well. Not in a bad way though. The slight weight just makes it feel more sturdy.
Using the sticks feel so smooth when rotating them at full range. All my previous xb1 controllers (3) all had a weird drag from the stick interacting with each other due to friction. This just glides, which surprisingly took a few minutes to get used to it.
So for the customization. Well I guess that would depend on ho you would want to do it so can only give my input based on my play style and what im comfortable with.
So I use hairline triggers on both triggers,
Left stick default
Right stick raised
All 4 paddles on back, mapped to abxy.
Halo 5 controller settings
Sensitivity 3. Acceleration 2 0 deadzones in both inner and outter. Bumper jumper
The result, my thumbs dont really EVER leave the sticks anymore, except to switch grenades. The result, I can focus almost entirely on my aim and strafing whem in a firefight, without worrying about needing to hit abxy. I fell I really play better specifically because I can always make minute aiming adjustments. Im getting more perfects as a result.
Another good benefits, if I am avoiding a vehicle and they get close to me, I can FINALLY aim with look and just hold “b trigger” to make sure I am always looking in the right direction. I can jack vehicles a lot better, assuming they are within range.
Getting used to the paddles in the back did take about 2 days to adjust to, trying to coordinate them in combat. Doing one thing alone, fine. Starting on pegasus and sprinting to the br, switching to pistol to drop for br…eh, horrible for 2 days. Now I can do tjat no problem, and still easily aim at the door for an enemy
All in all, if you want a more comfortable controller, and really be able to play with a bit more, fluidity (?) Absolutely worth it.
It wont make you a much better player automatically just by having it, just makes I a bit better for how you play because you can customize it.
Tl;dr. Took about 2 days to adjust but feels much better playing and aiming is smoother just because thumbs never leave sticks!
