H5 rate of engagements, remove sprint?

seems to me the number one flaw with halo 5 is how often you are engaging an enemy and usually one that you have just killed, about 10 second ago, I honestly think sprint and limited radar has turned the game into a cluster -Yoink- and needs to go…

notice an x where your team mate died? I know I’ll sprint across the map and and kill the enemy with a spartan charge or pull of my assault rifle as his shields will have no way recovered and rinse and repeat…

What is the average rate of engagements with enemies? It must have skyrocketed since h3, just makes really low skill gap sloppy gameplay where everyone has a kd of 1.0

They aren’t going to remove sprint. It certainly lowers the skill gap, much like thrust, SC, being able to pan around while dead, etc. They’re still not going to part ways with such “features”. So if you’re shooting for that good luck.

Arena is a cluster -yoink!- by design. It’s intended to be insanely fast-paced, with nowhere to run to and no where to hide and ground pounds and charges every three seconds. It’s is meant to be a -yoink!- storm that appeals to ADD kids on crack, and it’s intended to be as stark a contrast as possible to Warzone.

I’m sorry, I need to get this straight, you’re upset that you’re engaging with other spartans too often?

The gameplay was designed to force you to use Spartan Abilities. What this really does however, (aside from making the map larger and more vertical) is force all areas of the map to have equal traffic, meaning there are no power positions. Not that there would be very many anyway, they also packed the walls and cover spots really tightly together to block any long sightlines, further encouraging strictly CQC engagements. There is constant flow to every location in the map with very little breaks in pace.

Every Arena map barring perhaps Coliseum and Plaza play at a constant, panicky pace and I still don’t understand why so many people consider this fun gameplay aside from hardcore COD players, but opinions differ… All the maps seem to do is funnel players directly into each other without ever being able to see each other beforehand.

There’s many factors to rate of engagement. Player movement speed (and by extension sprint) is just one of them (among sightline segmentation, respawn times, map flow, and other things I could think of).

I think the deal with Halo 5 is the map sizes are a compromise between Halo 4 and Classic map sizes, which averages out to faster engagements relative to both.

To a degree it’s a valid complaint. If engagement times are too fast then there’s not enough time for a player to strategize, or even react, to what is going on around them.

For example, and one I unfortunately see too much playing Halo PC, shove 16 players onto a small map designed for 2v2 play. You’ll be getting shot from all angles constantly, dying a second after you spot and kill someone, unable to defend yourself from all the different people shooting at you. Why people make servers with these atrocious settings is beyond me.

Lol no it doesn’t lower the skill gap. In fact it does the opposite, and makes good players much tougher targets, as they’ll jump/crouch/thrust all over the place and be very unpredictable.

Another sprint thread, who would have thought?

I hardly ever sprint in Arena, as I like to have my gun at the ready rather than have to make an evasive move or take a moment to slow to a walk.

Oh jeez. Maps in Halo 5 are made for fast-paced games with along sprint.

if sprint wasn’t included in the game the maps themselves would be smaller so it would still take the same amount of time to get to that red X and mop up the kill.

Thank you! Having no sprint is what makes the older Halo titles obsolete in today’s day and age! I love the addition of sprint in Halo 5, the rate of engagement is perfect. IMO, of course.

Sprint is not the problem. It’s the useless -Yoinking!- radar in this game.

Just fix the damn radar. Give us back the 30m range we had in the Beta across all playlists. Maybe a little higher than that for Warzone. Problem solved.

I don’t think Sprint will be going away. The one thing that frustrates me the most right now is Spartan Charge. I think you shouldn’t be able to pick up your weapon so quickly especially in close quarters maps. There’s too much reward for just running around to just spartan charge people and take out their shields then oh hey I got a BR/Magnum gg.

Well I said rate of engagements to cover varying opinions, if sprint is kept can we increase maps? Can we have bigger radar? Even in reach I felt like I could win a well earned 1v1 and not get cleaned up by either a teammate or the guy I just fracking killed!

im glad others think similarly to me as I felt like I was going insane with other people here accepting the change of pace/no pacing that’s being trialed in halo 5

Or no sprint???

This because you cn be spartan charged from just beyond current radar range, & if increased, you would have to work to earn a spartan charge kill.

Never remove sprint! Shoulder Charge is what needs to go, that ability is just freakin stupid.

sprint is a terrible and unnecessary mechanic for halo, increased base movement speed is a much better way to do things.

Bigger radar would be better.

Adding faster movements but reducing radar was honestly a silly choice.

Keep sprint. I’ts good. Increase radar.
