> I’ll give you that it doesn’t sound like CE, or even that trilogy, but we’re in uncharted territory here story-wise. Our hero is being hunted and we’re unsure about a lot of things. I hear familial themes, conflicted themes, action themes, themes that feel like they carry the weight of honor of someone who’s done great things, and a whole host of elements that we’ve not heard yet. The music reflects what we have been shown of the story so far, and is mutli-layered and evolving.
> But cancelling your pre-order because you don’t like the music when listened to out of full context is taking being upset, or disappointed, to a whole new level. Did you feel that way about the music from the new Star Wars trailer? Will you not go see it either?
> Your opinion is fine. Your “spoken” reaction to it, however, seems petulant. But that’s just, like, my opinion, man.

You’re absolutely right.
I listened completely out of context, although I will say that REACH was a stellar listen even before playing the game and Halo Wars (never played it), but yeah, I should play the game in a few days to fully understand the music.
I have listened to this OST over and over for the last 48 hours and I will say:

  • It is better than H4
  • It definitely has many original Halo themes resounding throughout (but it also has many H4 as well)
    It’s
    growing
    on
    me
After much listening and reading many sensible posters comments, I have gone back to Amazon and replaced my preorder…gotta have it just because.
And to the MANY who insinuated/purported my OP as me stating fact…all I can say is you should complete you HS education, at the very least…I never once implied my comments were…fact. Bunch of tards fo-show.

Get out of here that please. halo 4 had a good ost and so does 5. Marty is gone, get out the past.

Alright then. I thought it was one of the best if not the best Halo soundtrack, but to each their own.

Did you even HEAR the H5 soundtrack? It was just released 2 days ago on Sound Cloud.

Halo2, Reach and ODST were amazing OST’s. CE & H3 pull a close 2nd, but H4 couldn’t be further from the Halo world. I did enjoy the H4 OST, but it just didn’t evoke a Halo feel to it.

H5 is a complete bust. I actually DID listen to all 39 tracks and am very disappointed.

I may have to agree to a certain extent. As a standalone soundtrack, it’s very good and its production quality sounds much better than that of Halo 4’s OST, but applied within the context of a Halo game, it feels mostly devoid of what made the Bungie OST’s so amazing. This paired with the unnecessary art style change kind of removes the entire atmosphere and feeling of the universe in Halo games, of course in my own opinion. The remnants of the Halo “feel” seem to be embedded only in the gameplay now. It doesn’t go without saying though that I am STILL HYPED FOR HALO 5 BABY OHHHH YEAH 7 MORE DAYS I THINK I JUST POPPED A BLOOD VESSsdfjnvs

Mind elaborating why? It is pretty much universally agreed that Halo 5 has a soundtrack on par with previous games, if not better.

Someone can’t handle an opinion.

OP needs an Otolaryngologist ASAP

I actually think it’s the best ost since the original trilogy. What didn’t you like about it?

Well, he is free kinda lol.

I personally think this is the best OST. Different strokes for different folks I guess

Imma let you finish but the trials is the greatest halo song of all time… ALL TIME

Guess what, you live in a world of human beings. Human beings have things called opinions. Thanks for sharing yours, but I’ll gladly keep mine.

Absolutely, exactly spot on!
H4 was great, but it simply WASN’T Halo…

I listened to the whole thing yesterday and this will be the second physical Halo soundtrack I buy first being the OST to 3. Sure some of the tracks feel new and different, but those tracks are probably part of the Locke portions of the campaign. This feels more like Halo then the Halo 4 OST and I genuinely enjoyed it. Kazuma Jinnouchi hit it out of the park with the feel he was going for. Bring in the old for the seasoned spartans and slide in the electric and fierceness of the young new team learning how to function. It’s great it has weight and each track sets a tone just like everyone of Marty’s scores.

I would actually say that this evokes it more than Halo 4 did, but that’s just me.

I honestly think all the soundtracks from the halo series were good
