343 wants to make a good halo?
THEN DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE BUNGIE MADE AND TRY TO COPY AND “MODERNIZE” IT
…what? Bungie always made Halo. I don’t remember seeing them adding in ADS.
Agreed, OP. Strongly.
Bring back H3 equipment placed on maps for pick up… ive had hilariously fun bubble shield moments! Halo seems to be all about the pros and forgetting about the fun stuff. Im not even against a jetpack as a map pick up that runs out eventually and you loose when you die.
And that’s exactly what Halo 5 feels like to me. A more evolved Halo 3
What I feel that REALLY should be changed in halo 5 or added is a covenant and promethean weapon that shoots grenades or something like that. Im talking lile the brute shot from halo 3, halo 4 has the concussion rifle which is sort is like the brute shot, but it doesn’t feel like your carrying heavy weaponry. It should get completely re modified into a total destroyer of a weapon. And for the promethean weapon, it should shoot out like pulse grenades or like a plasma ball in a way. That should really be added!!!
If all you want is Halo 3, then… uh, why don’t you go play Halo 3? You don’t even have to get your 360 out of mothballs. It’s called the Master Chief Collection. You could try it.

MCC doesn’t work.

I feel like what he’s trying to say is, ignore Reach, ignore H4, go back and design the next natural evolution of Halo 3. Don’t base it off of Reach or 4.
That’s something I can get behind, but unfortunately it’s a little late to do that with H5, and being the end of the Reclaimer trilogy, you can’t really do it with H6. It would be too different. So…maybe Halo 7?
tbh the real problem with halo as far as gameplay change goes is that every game has changed things up, but bungie changed too many things too much with reach and 343 has been reeling those changes in over time, but reach did the damage to the community. not 343.
halo 2;- added dual wields- changed shield recharge timer- removed health packs- made the rocket launcher lock onto vehicles- removed the AR, nerfed the pistol and gave us the BR
so, small changes
halo 3;
- re-introduced the AR (but it was week as spitting)- added the emp to the plasma pistol- made the br projectile not hit scan- added spike and flame grenades (you could carry only 2 of each grenade, for a still max of 8)- added one use equipment to mapsagain, more small changes
reach (this is where bungie -Yoinked!- everything up) - introduced bloom (halo never had accuracy penalties wtf were they thinking?!)- replaced the BR with the needle rifle as the mid range utility weapon (that no one used)- introduced the DMR, a precision mid/long range rifle (it does the br’s job but was harder to use well because of bloom and single shot)- removed dual wielding without buffing automatics damage to truly fill the close range combat niche- went back to 4frags + 4plasma- added some tier 2 weapons (grenade launcher and concussion rifle (i know which one i never used)- added a 3rd heavy weapon (plasma launcher) that was way too easy to use- made vehicles out of paper and balsa wood (why was i able to AR a tank to death but not a spartan?)- added personal load-outs, while not op as the weapons to choose from were all tier one… it introduced randomness and on spawn noob combo’s (why, why would you do that?!)- removed on map equipment- added armor abilities… to replace on map equipment, but made no effort to balance any of them- added assassination animations
WTF look at all those big changes!
halo 4 (judging on both original and tmcc gameplay) - killed bloom (thank god)- returned the br- swapped the needle rifle back to the carbine (because we have the br back)- reduced grenade capacity by 2 (6 down from 8))- gave us pulse grenades (which, lets be honest, never killed anyone, not even in LASO campaign)- nerfed the grenade launcher to the sticky det- buffed vehicles (a little too much maybe?)- buffed the AR’s damage but not its accuracy (so it was still mostly useless)- didn’t remove personal loadouts / removed personal loadouts in tmcc in favor of pre-set and balanced ones- nerfed armor lock into hardlight shield- nerfed camo to being unable to move and use it- nerfed evade roll to thruster pack- nerfed jet pack duration- removed sprint AA and made it a default, but didn’t nerf it- added promethean vision (which only helped at close quarters but everyone knew you used it so hiding went out the window on both sides of the wall)- threw out weapon balance because all human spawn weapons are more powerful than non human, and all promethean power weapons are godlike- removed AAs from matchmaking in tmcc- added random rewards (ordinance drops), removed ordinance from tmcc’s mp- added power weapon markerswow, look at all the changes that balance a lot of what reach did, hey look at those changes that undo what reach did
halo 5 guardians (based only on what we have seen in the beta) - balanced all weapons into their respective ranges. AR short but usable at mid, BR usable at all but best at mid, DMR long but usable at mid, light rifle is a tier 2 weapon- balanced sprint, you’re slowed when shot, shields don’t recharge, meleeing starts an animation that can get you killed (no sprint+melee abuse)- removed all AAs except thruster and everyone has it- reduced the grenade cap to 4, 2frag 2 plasma- added power weapon spawn timers- added a form of ads to all weapons (this is why the ar is usable at up to mid range, but certainly isn’t good at mid range)- bought back de-scoping to balance said ads mechanic- added ground pound, an incredibly hard to use well ability that all players have but if not used successfully gets them killed (i’d call that fair)- added clamber for more mobility- made kill times faster to compensate for enhanced mobility- reduced aim assists to increase the skill gap between increased mobility/faster kill times by making you actually have to aimhmm, looks to me like they’re done with random, uneven starts, personal weapon drops, easy escapes, and unbalanced weapon sandbox (no more BR>all)

This game was ruined before the beta was released. They’re dead set on making the game fair to noobs, staff captains, mentally handicapped, and mongoloids. so armor abilities aren’t going ANYWHERE. They’ll tell you armor abilities aren’t in this game, but that’s bc they’re calling it something else. Jet packs SUCK. Super abilities SUCK. If this game gets released with any super abilities I won’t buy it. I didn’t buy MCC and this is probably going to be the one that sends me running from the franchise forever. Let me be upfront to the future 343 fagboys that will be commenting ‘bye’ and all that stupid -Yoink-. Go -Yoink- yourself and piss on your mother. I’m furious about the Xbox one. Have 6 games and they’re all terrible. You guys may catch me on YouTube bar b queing my xbox one.
Since Reach, Halo games have shipped with what felt immediately like mistakes. None of these design choices panned out. Why build off of those titles? AAs, Bloom, Ordinance, Load Outs, no weapon spawns on maps, modified CTF, no assault (but shipped with griff ball :/)
Thruster feels wrong. I don’t feel like chasing kills down anymore. That took all of a week and a half. As people adjust to the kill times this will only get worse.

This feels nothing like Halo 3! Halo 3 was 100 times better than this garbage. You have to be one of those people that has no skill with a precision weapon, therefore you rely on randomness like bullet bloom and sprint to save your but from a true Halo player. Anyone that hates the BR is bad at Halo. You just get mad when someone who is better than you kills you before you can get in a close quarters battle with them. You also don’t realize the BR is the weapon you graduate to when you get your Halo training wheels off. Go back to Call of Duty.
Its funny that you think your opinions are the most popular. If that were the case Halo 4 would not have failed worse than any other Halo.

you do know, if you believe that you could make a better game… http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/developers/id. yes, that’s right, they’ll give you a dev kit or two and everything!
but in the men time, goodbye.

That’s real clever and original thanks for the link but no thanks I have a job and I buy games that are worth a -Yoink-. Could I make one better? Probably -Yoink!- so these guys are -Yoink-!

Don’t forget map size threw dramatically with halo reach, and has never really been dropped back. And the release of vehicles has been reduced with the advent of sprint.
I hate the change in map sizes. What an over stated design “necessity”. Empire may have played the best of the 4 beta maps and it was the smallest. Remove some clutter and we have a map I want to play. The other three are over inflated garb.

I loved the BR. The fact that something like ‘bullet bloom’ exists is enough to deter me from buying the game

What are you talking about? What mistake did Bungie make with Halo? Was it having the best selling Halo game of all time? Was it because that Halo game (Halo 3) almost matched Halo 4’s total sales in the first 24 hours? Was it that Halo 2, 3, and for a brief time Reach were part of the MLG circuit (which Halo 4, a 343 creation, never saw)?
343 owns the fastest dying multiplayer of any Halo game (Halo 4).
343 also gave us a game with the worst luanch on the Xbox One (MCC). Which I believe is a conspiracy to prevent all the newcomers from falling in love with the best Halos ever. And it doesn’t matter how much content is there, they still screwed it up. Did you see the Championship Series a few days ago? The game didn’t even work with system link and a lot of people watched it fail live. It says a lot that Halo’s return to the Pro Circuit is with Halo 2. Still, with all of the MCC’s failures 343 certainly holds the record for having the most people still wanting to play a broken game 2 months after luanch. That’s because nothing beats the Halo 2, and 3 experience.

because, uh… like… uh, I don’t want to play H3.
I want an EVOLUTION of the game… did you read my post?
I’ll clarify. So, uh… H5 feels close to H3 to me however… I want an expansion on the equipment, dual wielding was good. No need to remove that.
Things like sprint, ground pound. these things are getting forced into the game at the expense of other dynamics that are being over looked and should instead be enhanced.
Do you, uh… get it? uh.
