I really enjoy the Forge in Halo 5, more so than over Halo Reach’s but thats for another topic. The question I ask for this on is simple and I am hoping that someone can give me help on this issue I am current experiencing. I am currently working on a map design and I got a lot of it finished but still needs work. Problem is the lighting exceeds the limit and is at 223% because I never turned off the Light Baking System and never really found a good reason to turn it off because I like the natural lighting, problem is though, is that some of the blocks are appearing black and not shaded properly.
So my major question is, when should I turn it off and not use it and when should I use it? Because I would like this map to look amazing whenever I get people to test it. Can anyone give me a detailed explaination to how it works and whatnot? It would really help me in the long run, because I dont understand it all that well.
you should leave it on on places where you want cast shadows to be seen from afar or where you want to cast a specific shadow on something. Btw black blocks can be fixed by adding a light source near it.

If you dont add the bake light on areas were you want the light, will it make the blocks black anyways and another question is, if you already have items that light bake on them and you select them and deselect the light bake to off will that reduce the light budget?
Turn it off on blocks in the background that are just used for decoration or tiny details or blocks that are not affected too much by turning off bake lighting.
Some blocks probably don’t even have too discernible differences when lighting is turned off if they are in full sunlight so those can go too. Also try substituting large walls made of multiple block with just one large block instead.

Well I will go through the map tonight and make adjustments accordingly. As far as blockes that are in the background, sadlythere are none because the maps will be fully accessible.
