The 2V2 competitive Doubles playlist in halo 5 is actually really not competitive at all especially for solo players due to the non existent radar matching up against teams of two by yourself not being able to call out not being able to communicate with your teammates because no one‘s wearing a mic makes a huge disadvantage for solo players if there was a proper radar this wouldn’t be so much of an issue the new radar in halo infinite is basically like having no radar at all and this playlist in halo 5 is the worst playlist by far for fair matches and that’s the 100% God honest truth so I really suggest 343 bring back the classic radar because it helps with solo players increases the skill gap not necessarily for partied up teams but they don’t need an advantage anyway there already communicating the whole match the disadvantage is definitely for solo queuing and that’s a fact. There’s many other reasons it needs the classic radar but this is just one of them. I absolutely cannot stand the 2v2 competitive playlist in H5 it’s broken beyond compare… and don’t even get me started on no party restrictions…. I really hope it’s not a pretaste for infinite… because this radar is going to divide the community tremendously heed my words 343….
In almost every iteration of competitive Halo the radar is disabled. I think the only playlist that typically doesn’t disable the radar is FFA which is fair. If your point is the radar makes things more competitive, it does not. It feeds you free information about where the opponents are, and stalls map movement. If you just don’t like the new Infinite radar in social, fair enough.
If they do keep the current iteration of the radar they have added a mark system so that solo players can communicate with the rest of the team without having to use a mic.

Nope your wrong ranked playlists have radar there’s literally 1 playlist in OG halo that didn’t have radar MLg bungie knew what they were doing to create fair balanced matches…and now it’s 2v2 for halo 5 and hcs to a degree, and your also wrong about the fact that it does not increase the skill gap for solo players. That free information balances out the fact that your partied up against a team of 2 communicating the whole time while your getting shot having no idea where anyone is with absolute no communication. Yea I’m hoping the ping system negates some of these issues you have a point there…

My mistake, the radar is enabled in ranked playlists I was thinking more along the lines of tournament settings. In most tournament settings I’m aware of from CE up until H5 (which reworked the radar in HCS) the radar is disabled because it increases the skill gap. I don’t really agree that the radar has to be present to balance out a solo queuer against a full stack team because 9/10 times you are going to get smacked anyways.

You are thinking of the MLG playlist they had that only the top end players played. This was great for hardcore players, but not the majority. I am mixed on the radar and honestly starting to lean more towards always being visible under the typical scenarios. It just doesn’t feel good for a casual getting back smacked because you didn’t know the enemy just straight up walked up to you and killed you without crouching.

That 9/10 becomes 5/10 with a radar

I’m pretty sure the idea of competitive doubles is to play with a friend and show off what a great team the pair of you make. Solo queuing kind of goes against the entire culture of 2v2, where even the description in most cases tells you to “grab a friend!” or something along those lines. Motion trackers can never beat team communication, and if you aren’t communicating with your one and only teammate, you’ll always be at a disadvantage.
