H5 doesn't use ADS. Please stop.

I hate to sound a bit rude here but I feel that some of you are younger than pre Halo fps games or pre COD (early cod) times.

Now let’s just look at the guns in halo5. And let’s see how smart scope works…

BR: ADS like
SMG: ADS like
DMR: Circle scope but ADS like…
Well ok so three guns do have cosmetically ADS zoom.
Pistol: Not ADS. Still uses ridicule and not 100% sights
Sniper: Classic looking zoom
Assault Rifle: Screen zoom like classic shooters
Carbine: zoom like classic shooters
Shotgun: Classic fps zoom
Suppressor: Unique but still classic fps zoom
Light Rifle: Classic fps zoom with odd effects

And the list goes on. Like 80+% of the guns use classic zoom. NOT ADS.

What is classic fps zoom_ When instead of aiming down sights you zoom in WITH your gun still visable or not visable but still zoomed in. Sometimes player loses ability to move and is also used in 3rd person shooters from the Old days

It is ads. Your accuracy is increased with aiming. You can refuse to accept it all you want but it’s Ads.

In H5 you can aim down scope.

So, yes, it does use ADS.

Your accuracy doesn’t increase… Does it? Every video I have seen the accuracy doesn’t seem to increase. And even if it does it’s not by as much as normal shooters, and it doesn’t slow down movement as well.

Please stop bringing this up. -___- You are physically looking down a sight so it is by definition ads BUT it doesn’t behave like any other franchise’s implementation of the mechanic it’s just a reskinned halo zoom.

They took that out, ive seen smg, ar, and saw gameplay, i only saw -see what i did there- more range (red reticule happens at a not so longer range)

Op: it is ads, aim down sights or scope but its for cosmetics and range just as promised, it just isnt the way other fps’s use it.

Well with that logic every halo game has had ADS because guns decrease their spread slightly when zoomed in those games.

The difference between ADS in COD and Smart Scope in Halo is that, in Halo, it is required to shoot at long ranges. Whereas in COD, it’s required anytime you’re shooting, with few exceptions.

OK halo has always had ADS but only on certain weapons and change a couple things like when you get shot your aim goes down really the only differences in halo 5 is it is for every weapon and works with the left trigger. but you can’t choose any other control scheme and the ADS or ZOOM button goes to the orginal layout and truly it is the same thing with more weapons and an animation. But if you truly HATE halo 5 because they change The zoom to work on all weapons then don’t buy you don’t need to complain to the whole world how bad halo 5 is in your opinion in all caps and yelling. if you don’t like don’t buy it. so please stop hating on 343 because they are trying their best to bring a halo everyone likes. They will try there best to listen to you if you ask respectfully

Is that confirmed? It was found out in the beta because someone made a video comparing ADS and non-ADS shots against a wall and ADS provided reduced bullet spread.

It seems like people don’t realize that in previous games, zoom also increased accuracy by decreasing bullet spread and other factors. The reticle gets slightly smaller/moves in previous games.

Some real halo fans here… This whole debate / Argument is old and redundant.

Who cares if it is or isn’t? It’s in the game and that’s that.

This.
Definitely made you more accurate. That’s why you’d zoom in the first place, and why Descoping actually mattered.
That being said, the need for ADS wasn’t there and it’s clearly to appeal to COD fans.

Except it wasn’t as noticeable, as the only reason why it reduces spread is because your shots fall within the reticle alone. So having the same size reticle on a bigger sight picture (because you zoomed in) makes it “more accurate” but not to such a high degree unlike Halo 5 and it’s smart scope benefits.

Plus red reticle range but that only affects aiming, not cone of fire.

Plus+, if Halo 5 really didn’t have ADS, then pray tell what exactly are they complaining about? You can’t hide the fact that most zoom screens are ADS in nature as your weapon is visible, clear as day. Ignore this fact and I would have to declare you legally blind.

That’s really any FPS with ADS. Battlefield, Titanfall, CoD, Destiny, the list goes on. Halo is the only FPS I can think of where you can zoom but it doesn’t negate hip fire.

I think it’s the LT mapped command. Change the control scheme to classic so that the scope is trigged by the stick, and it’ll feel a lot better.

Or worse, if you’re like me and think that method of scoping is awful.

but, mechanically, it behaves the same as it did before. Literally just a fancy image to go on the screen.

What did I just say that people are complaining about? It’s not fancy, nor does it even appeal to lore fans. It displeases in every way.

Also there’s that issue with Smart scope being on LT that someone can just hold it down in order to keep zooming back in after getting shot, unlike the click of the analog.

The settings can be changed to use RS to aim instead of LT. Also, holding down LT won’t work because every time you get descoped, you have to release the trigger and press it again in order to zoom in again.
