H5 didn't sell as much as other Halo games

Now yes Halo 5 had an amazing launch and was actually one of the largest game launches ever and the largest halo launch but in total so far it hasn’t sold very well compared to previous Halo games. I mean for a game it sold very well but compared to other halo titles it didn’t do as well there are sources below the paragraph for those who want to see them.

I think the reasoning is that like Halofollower said is that H5 while having awesome gameplay didn’t do well with its story and was too focused on getting attention from a new crowd which drove away many older players. Now in my opinion the MP just needs forge to be perfect and the campaign while the story doesn’t really meet expectations is still very fun and does do well with storytelling once you meet Cortana. I think 343 needs to focus on the story a lot on H6 and give us a lot more Master Chief and Arby in the next game which going by H5’s ending may be the case at least for Arby. Also 343 shouldn’t do any kind of project like the MCC during H6’s production because when they do this while they still did good on H5 they should have made more time for it instead of the MCC I think H5 would be so much better if 343 didn’t decide to do the MCC. Now Halo Wars 2 isn’t being done by 343 solely so I don’t think H6 will have that problem. 343 needs to create a great story like try to make the equivalent of the Last of US storytelling here that would be awesome, keep doing MP the way you’re doing it now it is great, and finally sell the game as much to old players just as much as to new players.

But in honesty I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people are waiting for the forge dlc to drop before buying I almost did that myself but didn’t have the patience. So I would expect sales to increase and machinima’s to begin production as well.

Dog. Source 1 talks about how many Xbox Ones H5 sold, not how many copies of the game were sold. Source 2 only talks in terms of physical copies–not downloads through the marketplace, of which I’m sure there were many. Facepalm.

And why does this matter?

The online game is good. New maps are being added. Forge is coming soon.

Why do sales matter? Do YOU like the game or do you not? It’s that simple.

Its the comparison to H3 that counts there which doubled xbox console sales while H5 didn’t

Maybe its because of 343’s greedy policy of no co-op therefor no halo parties. I think people looked at that, along with 343’s track record (face it, it’s pretty bad) and said “meh, not worth a new xbox or 60 bucks”. And you know what, from someone who bought both, I totally agree with them

I made the post to give advise on what needs to be done for H6 to be better and to boost sales I mean they are a company they aren’t going to be doing a lot of Halo games for long if they can’t get people to buy them and a new developer will likely make the same mistakes 343 made in H4 if Microsoft fires them. I honestly love H5 for the most part really the story is all that needs work but 343 needs to improve before a developer that doesn’t know how to do a halo game replaces them.

The game may not have sold as well as previous Halo titles, but it has still sold well. It made in the hundred millions within its first week. That’s not chump change.

In terms of sales, the game is still wildly successful. 343i will not be “fired” over this.

It’s an over time sort of thing plus it was an exaggeration more than fact I doubt they will ever be fired

The game didn’t make hundreds of millions, the game and hardware did. Having by far the most expensive special editions and including $500 consoles and more in that total makes that $400 million not so special. Halo 3 made $170 million in game sales (not including hardware) on its first day alone with relatively cheap special editions. Halo 5 comparatively sold noticeable worse.

The amount of copies sold is more important though and it’s lacking there also.

There’s a population thread kicking around somewhere that has people talking about this in it.
