H5 best player retention rate of any halo except 3

Pretty neat.

it is when you sold well erm…

Well halo 5 is a great game imo. Good to hear

Really cool! Glad to know that.

I’m confused with this article… says splatoon sold 4 million. Times 60(price of game) equals 240 million. It Then says Halo 5 sold 400 million in revenue. Even with collectors editions it seems halo 5 smoked splatoon in sales. Were they talking about splatoon and mario maker “combined” out sold halo 5? If so, then yeah, lots of games are out sold by 2 popular games combined!

The game that is twice as old as this one and the one that is benefiting from mascot add ons?

Free DLC certainly helps.

I saw that article, but as I read it, I rolled my eyes.
No sales numbers have been given out for Halo 5. We don’t know digital sales, we don’t know physical sales. For all we know, Halo 5’s already well above 5 million sales with digital sales factored in.
The only thing the author does know is the $400 million+ that Halo 5 made in the first week. And being given only that information, he magically assumes that Halo 5 sales are below those of splataoon’s or Mario maker’s.

Extremely misleading/inaccurate/non-confirmed title.
But I guess I can’t blame them for being a small company and wanting to generate clicks based on such flame-bait titles/articles.
If you want to make Halo 5 look bad, please do so with a proper, well-written, and backed up source. Linking to gameranx is doing your argument no good.

Considering it also sold much worse than previous games, that’s not surprising. 343 seems to be narrowing down their audience to the lowest common denominator of people who will play anything.

Player retention only speaks to your current audience, not the audience you’ve lost due to countless mistakes.

Sales and and population as a whole are still very poor, so I’m not sure what this changes, really.

That $400 million included all Halo 5 related hardware as well, not just game sales.

Just curious, from where are you pulling your sales numbers from?
And please don’t say vgchartz. That website literally pulls numbers from air. Have you a backed-up source that says that Halo 5 is the worst-selling Halo game?

And you don’t think Microsoft factored in everything they could have to inflate their revenue numbers for the past Halo games?

Day one perhaps, yet nobody seems to mention it has a higher digital attach rate and that it’s legs are longer than all the previous Halos (who were all one hit wonders)…

VGChartz. Sorry if you don’t like it.

K. Then your entire argument falls apart.
You should know that ever since they went independent a few years back, they’ve lost the support of any unbiased third-party support they had back in the day and ever since that break, the owner has been negligent of his own website in favor of a side project. Vgchartz used to have the support of gamestop managers, but not anymore. And ever since then, the website always corrects their estimated numbers after official numbers come in. They had GT6 at around 2 million right around the time when sony announced that it had sold over 4 million copies. They had severely undertracked the xbox one by over 2.5 million last year before Microsoft gave official shipped numbers. Here’s one more off the top of my head. They were severely undertracking Halo MCC pre-orders before launch (by a large, large amount). People complained in the forums that something was wrong and it was too low, so what happened next? The numbers automatically were boosted by an insane amount on the next chart. That just goes to show you that the owner only has loyalty to the views and opinions of those that visit the website. Completely biased and completely inaccurate. Just goes to show you that vgchartz uses nothing official with their tracking, just the one owner who pulls all the numbers out of a hat. I could go on and on about how often they’re wrong on so many titles on their databases, but since you believe the crumbling foundation that is vgchartz and base it as your “source” for your argument, then go ahead. I’ll just judge you from afar. But please know that anything you say from here on out, I won’t take you seriously.

Good day,

Pretty sure this is the exact opposite of what most people are complaining that 343i is doing with Halo, which is appealing almost exclusively to a niche competitive gamer market and excluding the LCD of casual FPS players.

Nope. Previous reported sales numbers specifically said game sales only.

Nope. I’ve checked multiple publications reporting on the sales. They’re never clear. And game sales could be interpreted as multiple things. Limited edition console has game = game sale. Physical = game sale. Digital = game sale, etc.
Oh, and could you possibly point me towards a backed-up source that states specifically that the revenue reported came exclusively from non-bundled, non-hardware related, game copy-only sales?
