H5 and taking time off, not a good thing.

I’ve had several stints in the past which I’ve taken some time off from Halo 5, three or four days at best. Usually it was to relieve myself of the game’s many annoyances (well, what I considered annoying), and come back with a more positive attitude. Well…that’s been my issue, the positive attitude I had toward this game has turned sour and lead my astray.

At best, I can maybe play 45 minutes before I run into what I call “unplayable” stretches; JIP dropping you into 12v7 games, lopsided matches with all three bases captured within the first 400 points, lagged matches, disconnects from games that are actually good, etc. I’m not sure if the population of the game has dropped so enormously that only a few thousand players (at best) are still playing, but the scenario I described above happens a lot more than I’d like to not complain about.

So to get back to my original point: I’ve found myself not playing the game for longer periods, log in, get destroyed in three Warzone games, log off for a month.

As always, I would come on these boards hoping in anticipation for another update that I could say “This, this change will make me like this game again,” but at last, this is no longer the case. After what I would say was the final update (prior to the heavy aim hotfix) I slowly started deviating away from Halo 5, coming back so often to play a game of Team Arena or Big Team Battle, but I just can’t spark my interest or enthusiasm for the game anymore.

I have also been taking long breaks from this game. But I think I should add that this game is nearly almost 2 years old. It held together for one year of the cut-content updates keeping so many people playing the game.
But yeah I have also been taking long breaks. I don’t see how some people still play it daily. I’m SR148 with solo and co-op legendary completed with nothing left in the game for me. My req collection is complete, and I’ve played way too much of each gamemode. Ive been on about a 2 week or more long break so far and I don’t see myself playing that much anymore unless i get on with friends.

Play some Arena man… where imbalances and the “snowball-effect” aren’t built into the scoring system.

It’s a more balanced, competitive environment where you can claw your way back into a match, even if you’re losing, with some smart play, perseverance, and effective timing and position/power-item management.

That’s the beauty of Halo…

I haven’t played this game in over 2 months and I know how you feel, many factors make this game I wouldn’t say unplayable, but definitely not enjoyable for me

In same problem, I just find the game infuriating to play. Sometimes playing action sack with friends or just playing games modes like the new Castle playlist helps break it up a bit plus listening to some music helps to pass the time since main reason I’m still playing is to get to the max 152 rank. Sadly the games been pretty broken for a while, have had recent games were it just was unplayable in it’s state where players were just glitching, barely anyone I know wants to go anywhere near H5.

The problem I’ve found with taking extended breaks is my aiming would go to crap when I came back. I haven’t really had this problem in other games.

I’ve been taking breaks to play a lot of non PvP games (Witcher, Dishonored, Prey, etc.), so when I hop in, I’m like “oh right, these enemies are people!” and just get destroyed until my sea legs back. Occasionally I’ll surprise myself and get a few decent doubles & triples in BTB, but usually I need a good warm up (which I do in Firefight to get my aiming on point).

I took a break for a couple months a while ago and this game is as frustrating as ever.

Dude I have to play so many octagon matches to get off the rusty aim. I didn’t know there was an aiming issue with the game itself though. There was a heavy aim fix. Basically i think aiming was inconsistent in the game, independent of how good your aiming was. It was a actual game issue. Since then, when I jumped back on…my aiming felt different.

I got so used to the messed up aiming, that I had to fine tune my settings to adjust to the "fixed " version. Finally, it feels accurate again. I’m not super good at the game, but I no longer feel like the game and I are having a thumb war match. Do you practice in the octagon matches in the custom browser? It’s well worth it…aside from when someone only wants to practice sniper spawn kills.

I also often find myself taking long breaks from Halo 5 due to many instances of miscellaneous issues going on with the game itself and also in my experience (game crashes, REQ inconsistencies, losing 80% of the time in most playlists, poor spawns in Warzone, unfair legendary difficulty, etc).

It’s almost always the fact that bad luck is given to me without permission. :frowning:

Exactly the reason I let of this franchise. Every time I “took a break” from the game I actually found myself enjoying and having fun on other games. Every time I attempted to comeback into the game I found it harder and harder to not get frustrated by the many unprofessional and inexcusable bugs, mechanics, or just overall gameplay found within Halo 5. Playing H5 became very stressful as I found myself criticizing the game more than playing and enjoying it till I eventually just gave up. I gave up on all the false promises, I gave up on 343, and I gave up on the my favorite franchise. Currently having a blast on Overwatch, the gameplay is spot on, team play if fantastic and the mechanics of the game and characters are constantly being tweaked to make for a balanced and fair experience, something I wished 343 would do with the flagship title for Xbox, I guess that’s just asking to much from them though.

Oh no game in history has infuriated me more than this the inconsistent servers and the lag we get from Australia is borderline unplayable and don’t get me started on spartan charge it’s a shame because the multiplayer has so much potential but there is only so many times I can empty a full clip of Ar into a guy point blank and not even pop his shields

The problem with this mentality, here, with all due respect…

Is not seeing playing the game as the reward itself.

Progression has never been necessary to enjoy the game.

I always ask this, but if you’re done with halo 5 and halo in general, then why are still here?

I visit the forums every now and then just to see what’s up, is that a crime? I still play MCC every now and then even if its riddled with bugs, just not H5. I still want to somewhat keep in touch with the community or what’s left of it that is.

Same here the less I play the worse my aim became

I never said it was, but I don’t see the point of coming to the forums if you’re done with a franchise.

As said I still play the MCC from time to time, and believe it or not I still have a small glimmer of hope left for the franchise but I’m not betting on it since I’ve been let down so many times by the current developers. At this point I’m done with the franchise we’ll see how it is in the future, but as of right now Call Of Halo isn’t really gonna do it for me.

Again with the Call of Halo thing? Hasn’t that already been debunked like 200 times? If you still have hope and will come back to Halo, then you probably shouldn’t say you’re done with a franchise.

I kind of agree with Arc Trooper 48 here. If your done with the franchise, which includes TMCC or any other Halo, then why check the forums? Especially the Halo 5 ones?? lol I think you just picked your words poorly. I think you mean your done with Halo 5 because if you still come on here, and see what 343I are saying about future halo games, then you have at least some interest in the franchise then right? but anyways…

Well that’s half your problem right there, your playing warzone!! the worst, most unbalanced game type ever! and IMO a huge waste of time and resources by 343I.

I do agree that it’s hard to take a break and come back and play and be good, but isn’t that most games? Also as people have said, Halo 5 is getting close to 2 years old, so it’s pretty normal to not want to play it as much as you used too. Very and I mean VERY few games will you want to keep playing for years and years. I can only think of a few for myself. One being Warlords 3 Darklords Rising for the PC. I played that game for literally 10+ years and the only reason I stopped is because there was only about 20 of us left in the world who played it lol (no joke!) and it became to tough to communicate with people asking if they want to play (aka we had no meeting places, lobbies etc) and throw in the fact that it seemed to only run on wins 95/98 didn’t help… but anyways I think it’s normal to feel burnt out or not want to play something after so long.
