H4 plus H5 would make the perfect Halo game

Read before you flame me please!!

Alright, I know Halo 4 and 5 are despised by a lot of people for valid reasons, but both games had plenty of good in them. If we take the good aspects of each game and make a whole new game out of it, we would make the perfect Halo game.

Lets take a look at the good aspects of each game:

Halo 4:

  • Campaign: This one is probably more subjective than the other points and more open to debate due to differences in opinion. Some people may think that Halo CE has the best campaign, while others think that title belongs to Halo 3 or Reach, but in my opinion, Halo 4 wins the trophy. I have so many memories of the countless times I’ve replayed it, particularly on the mission Midnight. I remember jumping between those platforms at the end so Cortana could copy her rampant parts while watching New Phoenix get composed with Arrival playing in the background. No other campaign moment felt more Halo to me then that right there. Well, whatever your opinion is, I’m sure we can all unanimously agree that Halo 4’s campaign was better than Halo 5’s. - Spartan Ops: Ok, Spartan Ops was an AMAZING idea, but it was executed poorly. I love the idea of our multiplayer Spartan participating in real life battles in the Halo universe. While it was repetitive, boring, and generally felt more like a grind, I believe there is plenty of room to improve. - Customization: I think that Halo 4’s customization was better than Reach’s for 1 reason: Reach overdid it. This is a Goldilocks Effect for me; CE-3 was too little, Reach was too much, while 4 was just right. Unfortunately, Halo 5 has too little customization. - Gamemodes: We all know very well how much of a barebones launch Halo 5 had, and even after a year Halo 5 still lacks dozens of staple gamemodes. At least Halo 4 had most of them by the end of its post launch support. - Progression System: I along with every one else prefer unlocking cosmetic items through achievements, commendations, and leveling up rather than unlocking them through RNG.Halo 5:

  • Forge: Alright, if there is one good thing about Halo 5, it’s Forge. I don’t think I really need to explain myself here. - Weapon Balancing: In all the previous games, there was always that one weapon that was completely useless or ridiculously overpowered. That is not how it is in Halo 5… well, unless you want to count Nornfang. :smiley: - Matchmaking: Matches in Halo 5 are generally more balanced and evenly matched then in previous games. I also have noticed a lot less quitting in games due to the ban system. - Sounds: Halo 5 has the best audio in the franchise by a longshot. You can hear gunshots while in the respawn screen and they sound so realistic. In my opinion, if Halo 6 has all of these features, it will be the game everyone wants and loves.

Good, there all really cool games! even ODST was a lot of fun, I would suggest hunting that one down if you can.

Yeah they are a lot of fun. I’ve actually been looking for Halo CE, 2, and an original Xbox console. It’s really overpriced nowadays.

I’ve had this thought myself – that I like Halo 5 for all the reasons I didn’t like Halo 4, and conversely I like Halo 4 for all the reasons I don’t like Halo 5. If they can keep the feel of Halo 5 – maybe even smooth out the existing bumps – and provide a good story and fun campaign (the two are not the same), Halo 6 could be the best Halo game to date.

The problem is that story is linear, and events prior affect events that follow. Halo 6 will be heavily informed by Halo 5 – and I found Halo 5’s story direction to be, in a somewhat hyperbolic word, catastrophic. Halo 6’s story is almost certainly unable to use all the things from Halo 4 that Halo 5 (and Halo 5’s preamble) dismissed. Jul 'Mdama is dead, the UrDidact got digitized and imprisoned, Fractures has established that IsoDidact decided to live out a mortal lifespan, the widening gap between what the UEG wants and what ONI thinks is best no longer matters, and neither does the escalating insurrection. We have no word of Guilty Spark/Chakas other than a re-affirmation that he did, in fact, revive and leave in 2555, and we have no status updates on Mendicant Bias, Offensive Bias, the Librarian, or the Gravemind. The plot of Halo 5 doesn’t even connect to them.

It would be quite a hat trick if 343 could make Halo 6’s story one I like. But if they make the campaign fun to play (e.g. Reach, which I found to be the most fun campaign to play, regardless of plot), keep the multiplayer fun, keep the Forge stellar, and maybe go less crazy with the slot machine unlock setup, Halo 6 could be great, if embittering.

I could not agree more. If 343 wants to make Halo 6’s story the best to date, then I think they may have to redact Halo 5’s story and start over, for their sake.

I don’t want “team” based campaigns anymore. yeah it was cool to fight with Blue Team but friendly ai just isn’t good enough to make it enjoyable. If they want us to play as different people do like H2 did and have different missions for different people. I loved seeing thing from the Covenant perspective.

Well the Banished are going to have a huge impact on Halo 6’s story, so maybe we’ll get to play as Atriox.

Customization in Halo 4 rocked! I loved mixing up the different armor pieces, wish we had that back. And the player cards while voting for a map, that was a good idea too.

Yeah I really miss it. The thing is though, my OCD forbids me to wear mismatched armor so I always decided my torso and shoulders based on which helmet I want to wear lol.

On a more serious note, the only thing I can see Reach bringing to the table is the Falcon, Revenant, Pro Pipe, and Forge World.

I think H3+H2A with a side of Reach and a splash of H5 would be amazing!

all halo titles had some good and some bad elements to them. i dont think 4 or 5 had the best of anything tho
