What was i thinking trying to catch this stream using a hotspot! I missed what franky said about the dynamic lighting and shadows!

Forge looks great, especially the magnet and shadow features !

I saw a replay of the Forge unveil, and the usual budget in Reach 10,000. Watching closely I saw the budget was 1,000,000! I’m really excited for this but at the same time I wouldn’t be able to jump to conclusions because the objects may or may not cost more money but if they don’t then hell yeaaah!

Might just be a placeholder, too. Would be amazing if it was that high, though.

I too noticed this incredibly limit. I actually put my finger over the screen to count all the zeros :stuck_out_tongue: I knew I was going to mention this on the forums the second i did it lol

Has a screenshot taken from the live stream, showing some basic Forge letters that spell “RTX”. The pieces used to build them are clearly Halo: Reach’s Columns, but with noticeably better lighting. The level’s aesthetic resembles that of Forge World. However, the buildings visible here look far more Forerunner than anything in Forge World – think of the difference between Forge World’s Forerunner pieces, and the Forerunner geometry in the Anniversary map pack.

Ability to “lock” objects so they can’t be moved without unlocking.

From what Frankie said, all Forged maps will look very different from each other due to the dynamic lighting!
Trait zones that change player traits.
Gravity Volumes that change gravity (can change direction of gravity). I don’t know about you guys, but I’ll use heavy gravity volumes to cap my maps with a ceiling instead of using those annoying pesky kill zones. I really hope for invisible barriers, though.
Again, dynamic lighting. I can’t stress how amazing this is. All Forge items will have dynamic lighting, which means tunnels will be dark and walls will cast shadows.
It appears kill zones have returned (much to my disparagement).
When switching from monitor to player, a very short lighting render loading takes place (happens to ALL players on co-op).
Kill balls returned.

Five words, low gravity king of the hill.

<mark>I’m still concerned about forge.</mark> Let me make it clear that I saw nothing bad in the video and it’s what I didn’t see which is what I am concerned about.

The magnetic lock I am VERY pleased with.

The highlighting tool I am also pleased about as I have made many mistakes related with piece distinction.

The trait zones will most likely lead to several new mini-games which is good

I am not too bothered with the dynamic shadows as I care more about editing tools and gameplay then graphics [but I will admit that it is a nice step forward].

As for the lock tool, it’s handy but not that spectacular.

My concerns are that (I think it was) Frankie said that the pieces were one of only 3 pallets used in Halo4. Pallets here implying that Halo4 will use pieces pre-designed to suit the map instead of textures or skins like I had hoped for. This makes me angry, as in my opinion this was the next logical step forward (not some fancy new shadow system). Hopefully I’m wrong and 343 will include skins & textures if not then I hope we won’t end up with a bunch of samey grey maps, like in Reach.

I also hope that 343 has added in new pieces to the pallet and not just kept the ones from Reach (as that would be unbelievably annoying).

But like I’ve said, what I’ve seen so far looks great and I hope to see more in the future (soon).

Absolutely love it. The new feature all look incredible. Love the magnet feature the most, I think!

Looks great so far. I hope the other forge areas they referred to means different types of buidling materials. The new Forerunner materials look far better than they did in Reach but I hope that the other areas would have maybe a Stone theme like sandbox, a human one like Foundry or perhaps even a Covy theme.

Im truly loving 343i has done with Halo 4 forge. I was wondering if anyone had footage of the ham of PIG between jack and Geoff? I would really love to watch it again.
