I was like everyone else to have learned about the True Skill Ranking System. But my excitement slowly faded as i learned that it would once again be based on win’s and losses. I find it extremely inaccurate and quite annoying for people who don’t have skilled friends. Because of the fact that you can do great in a game and lose which causes you to not be rewarded and instead demoted…well that’s just not fair. What i think is fair: It should be based on you and only you so that you don’t have to completely rely on your team. You should be judged on your K/D, medals, and assist’s (so you still have to be a team player) and this should be per-game also to be compared to the player’s you play against so that you can also be judged off them to tell whether you should compete with higher skilled or lower skilled player’s. This can also be much more difficult for boosters as they would have to literally have to rank your account up themselves and once they do that you’ll be demoted if you ever play that playlist again. I hope you were able to make it through what seem’s to be a book.
Note- I am in no way hating on H4 trying to disrespect 343 #LongLiveHalo
If it’s based on wins/losses, wouldn’t that be a little inaccurate with the join in progress feature? I was watching a H4 stream earlier and some games the person joined were pretty much a lost cause and his team lost.
Just because you “can” do really well in a game and lose and be demoted, does not mean the system is bad overall. Doing well and losing rarely happens untill you start playing opponents that are around your skill level. Even then, it has little affect on the accuracy of W/L ranking systems.
Basing a skill based ranking system on stats means that there will be playstyles that are inherently better than others simply because they get the right combination of stats that moves their rank up the most. Basing a skill based rankign system off pure W/L is the most balanced for every playstyle.
> it’s based on a lot more than wins/losses just to let you know.
How will it rank me?
All players will be ranked on a per-hopper basis, so, for example, you will have a unique CSR for your Slayer Pro games vs. your CTF games. CSR is currently planned to use a familiar and easy to understand 1-50 scale (subject to change or alteration). Your CSR will go up and down based on match outcomes.
That’s from the update.
So no, it’s based only on wins/losses. Which is how it should be, the name of the game isn’t just you doing well it’s about winning.
Its based on overall gameplay. If you win the game, you just get more xp towards your rank.
Making it based on a K/D ratio just invites boosters, cheaters and campers
Personally… I hate the 1 - 50 ranking system, it doesn’t work. What happens when you get to level 50? You’re in the position you started in of not leveling up. People just want a rank (a 50) so they can brag about it and rub it in people’s faces.
They need a rating system like in reach, something thats constantly changing
please no. Win/loss is the way to go. In reach people never cared about winning since there was no point to win. Win/loss is the way to go. I dont want any selfish k/d rating system. I want a teambased ranking system.
I understand what everyone is saying and would like to thank everyone in being active with my opinion. But i just don’t like the fact that it is based on win’s and losses. I didn’t have alot of friends back in the day’s of halo 3 which forced me to play with random people who often didn’t have mic’s or was obnoxious and even if i did so well in the game that i was mvp but just could not win the game i would rank down. It would make me feel very sad inside and i did not get passed 28 for a very very long time. I hope that people can respect my opinion and understand my frustration with the system and my experiences.
The goal of team games it to win as a team, not for you as an individual to be an all-star. Win as a team, lose as a team.
As Reach showed, any ranking system that differentiates players on the same team and encourages them to standout on their team inserts competition among teammates and, therefore, deconstructs the whole spirit of a team game.

It is not the system that didn’t allow you to get past 28. I go in solo all the time and so do many other players and I/they all get to thier respective rank.
You are discrediting a system based on your own personal experience and your feelings from that experience. You have no sound argument against W/L.

I completely understand how it’s frustrating, but it’s a much more sound way to do so. It is ranking you on how you play when trying to win, if winning isn’t the main priority then you stop playing to win and start playing for stats. Which leads to more greedy play styles (i.e teammates caring more about not dying instead of battling for map control or helping out teammates.) Also it breaks any hope of objective games being ranked, which I would thoroughly enjoy having. It should be about winning.
