h4 controller settings

which is better and why, recon or bumper jumper

There’s no such thing as better for settings. It’s based purely on what works better for you.

for example: I refuse to use anything outside of recon because the Halo 1-3 default is what I am used to. Anything else always throws me off my game.

I would choose Bumper Jumper. In all the past titles it will allow you to become at least 20-30% better than the default layout. You are able to jump and aim at the same. This make your strafing much more erratic and varied because you jump around while shooting. It is a much more natural layout once you get used to the jump button being the left bumper and beat down the right bumper. I suggest to give it a try if you haven’t already

Bumper Jumper.

Jump, Melee, Grenade and shoot without ever letting your thumb off the aiming stick.

Yes, some AAs can be awkward but for that you just claw.

Same here…

i too love recon but i have heard that there is an advatage to using bumper jumper

thanks for the info, i played with default for all of my halo 2+3 and most of my reach career, but then i switched it up to recon and felt more fluid. with this info in mind, ill adjust to bumper jumper in time for h4, is the layout the same in h4 as it was for reach aside from default sprint?

Bumper Jumper.

I made the switch from Recon to BJ after 5 years of playing H3 default/Recon.

It didn’t take me too long to get used to it.

Only difference from Reach to H4 is that sprint is now on A instead of X.

Your right there is, I use bumper jumper in Reach, and give it about 10 games and you’ll start to understand the advantage of always being able to aim. It answers things like how did that guy do that and still shoot me??? LOL

But nothing beats whatever your best at, thats why there is so many controller layouts. Everyone is different.

I get used to stuff like that in half a game at most.

I know as much as you do in that regard

Use recon but I am trying bj as I speak

Only difference is grenade switch isn’t on ‘A’ anymore.

thanks anyway, i’m taking this game seriouly this time around unlike reach so i want to improve as much as possible. provided the TS is much tighter this time around, h4 should bring some intense matchmaking

Every time this thread comes up, I feel like a solitary voice. I’ve been using Green Thumb since the beginning and it suits me great. H4 only has minimal switches, so I’m all set.

I used to use GT but when I started getting good with the sniper using ‘B’ to scope became a very bad idea.

I wouldn’t ask which is the best, because it really all comes down to personal preference. I prefer Recon, as it’s just what I’m used to, but I know there’s a large majority that prefer and will use bumper jumper.

Recon is my personal preference But there are reasons to use either.

Recon is the Halo 3 default scheme, which has somewhat “replaced” the Halo CE/2 default for me after I got used to it.

Personally, I wish they would add an actual “Classic” which is basically Recon but with Action/Reload on X, then Sprint on LB, and AA on RB (or vice versa, that is just my preference being a Sprinter in Reach.), LB and RB being the only “changed” buttons from the Black/White buttons.

I’m a default man.

Also why can’t we fully customize our layouts?

Bumper Jumper, but im considering going back to default because AAs seem more important and prevalent in H4. Also, it makes life easier because you don’t have to always change it at friends houses and you can get used to other games, like CoD and Borderlands, much easier.
