H4 Assault Rifle Damage?

We all know that the Reach AR was a worthless pea-shooter, but people could actually get kills with it in almost any other Halo game. In Halo CE, Halo 3; the Assault Rifle was awesome! Not overpowered, but not underpowered either.

The Assault Rifle means a lot to me as it was the first gun I ever used in a video-game. I loved the overall feel of the Combat Evolved AR.

So, we’ve seen some footage of people using the AR in Halo 4. What do you think of it? Do you like the sound? What do you think of the damage? Is it powerful? Too weak? How do you think it will match up to other weapons? For people who have gotten the chance to use the AR when they played Halo 4, is the AR a considerable gun to use? How does it feel to wield such a weapon?

Strong

They made it same as cod assault rifles

Same boat here, I think the H4 AR will be better this time.

It fills its CQC niche, I think it’s fine.

Nah, I don’t think so. In Call of Duty, usually the first person to spot and shoot an enemy is the one to come out victorious. In Halo, I could run up to a guy and spray him down with countless bullets from an AR but he could easily take me down with a few clean, accurate shots to my (my Spartan’s) head.

First, I don’t think the AR was in Halo 2.

Second, I do hope that the new automatic weapons can actually hold their own against the precise weaponry. This doesn’t mean I want them to just rip people to pieces like some kind of… ripper of pieces, but they do need to be comparable to (but not equal to) rifle headshot killtimes.

Also, I am really hoping that I’m no longer better off using the assault rifle over the ripped off machine gun turret. That always confused me.

First off, there was no AR in Halo 2. Only the SMG.

Secondly, you have clearly not played Halo 3 in a while. The AR in Halo 3 is a worthless weapon. The Reach AR is 5x better than Halo 3’s AR.

Now, OT: The AR kills with around 24 bullets, up close.

definately sounds a lot stronger unlike the halo 3 assault rifle

hmm… somthing seems wrong there.

on topic, i like the way the AR looks and sounds, but i cant judge it until i get the game

Only problem being that Halo 2 diddn’t have the AR. However, I’m sure this is just a mistaken typo on your part.

OT: I’m pretty sure that the AR will at least be the strongest starting automatic in the game since it has an advantage of having mid range as a viable range limit of combat. It is also strong enough to go toe to toe with the BR at close range and win, but then again, the other automatics can too, but the AR can do it faster than the other automatics can.

I think the AR is in good hands. Trust me, I love the AR too, and I think it’ll be way better from now on.

No matter what im staying by the AR side and going to use it

Ive heard that it does its job well as in close range and it is not very reliable for long range as well is reasonable

kinda discouraged about usin it but i will love it no matter wat lol

Oops, sorry guys! I just had a derp moment and thought the AR and SMG were the same weapon. I’m sorry lol. But I must say that I loved the Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 3: ODST Submachine Guns.

Meh, the SMG was only good in Halo 2 and 3 if they were duel weld. The Halo:ODST SMG, I have no opinion on because I have yet to play ODST and use the weapon for myself.

Aim the AR at the opposite Spartans head =P

Yes, there was no AR in Halo 2, sorry. Typo there.

I don’t own Halo 3 so I’ve never played it as much as others, but I have recently played it. I don’t share that view. The AR in Halo 3 is not a worthless weapon. And in no way is the Reach AR better than Halo 3’s.

lol I’ve actually never died using the SMG in Halo 3 Matchmaking. But I never pick it up that often.

The AR can kill people at close rang which its suppose to do. Anyone that really cares about the AR and wants it to be powerful isn’t good at Halo sorry to say. All I really have to say to u is just get better at Halo and use the precision weapons. The AR was never really designed to be powerful because it takes absolutely no skill to use it. The precisions weapons are always going to be more powerful then it because they actually take skill to use. If the AR was powerful it would play almost exactly like COD because people would be just using ARs since they are easier to use.

So you never use the melee to help your AR get a kill? Well, this is interesting…

Say what?! I beg to differ. For some reason when I have a BR, even if I shoot first and land all my shots, I keep losing to an AR guy so I keep having to use the AR over the BR as much as it hurts my stomach because I love the BR but can’t seem to beat an AR alot of times. Oh it hurts. Anyway, Reach is the opposite, I generally win with a Precision Weapon going against an AR person. Or somebody with any Automatic for that matter.
