Now, the video was very cool, but a few people have noticed that within the video (2:07), you can see Alan Tuydk and Nathan Fillion, the voices of ODST’s Mickey & Buck respectively.
While only 343 Industries has the ability to confirm anything, do you guys think that perhaps we may get to see some of our old ODST friends return in Halo 4? I for one would love to see them return.
Supposedly, Spartan-IV’s are UNSC soldiers that have proven themselves in battle before becoming Spartans, rather than being kidnapped. In the Halo Reach FireFight voice selection screen, Buck’s voice is an option, and next to it is some text that says something similar to “If he were any better, he’d be a Spartan.”. Could we possibly see Buck and Mickey return as Spartan-IV’s?
I think he would be a character of great experience, being around when Reach fell, when the covenant attacked Earth, etc. He obviously could be a good leader.
NOTE: This is not a “OMG I saw them therefore they must be in!” thread, but rather an idea spawning from the idea that they were both there. Please comment on the idea of them showing up in H4 rather than the fact of them being at E3 meaning they are in H4 or not.
He seemed more like he visited as a gamer rather than part of the project, and Nathan Fillion himself is a self-proclaimed lover of the Halo franchise. It’s natural that a fan of his stature would be showing up at E3 to look at the next installation of the series, especially since he as a B-celebrity wouldn’t have big issues with getting into most festivals, whether they require social status or simple money.
My only issue is that I do not see Alan Tuydk coming out as a fan. I could see Nathan Fillion coming as he is a big fan of Halo, but the fact that Alan is also there at the same time is kinda strange to me.
Well, here’s the thing that gets me. Supposedly, Spartan-IV’s are suppose to be USNC soldiers who have already proven themselves in combat before becoming spartans, rather than being kidnapped as children.
In Reach, when you choose the Buck voice, there is a list of text next to the picture that reads something similar to “If he were any better, he’d be a Spartan.”
Halo 4 takes place roughly 5 years from the events of Reach.
I think this would be plenty of time for Buck to be brought into the Spartan-IV program.
Spartan IV’s are veterans of the Covenant War so there is a chance they are a pair of Spartan IV’s. Also Buck is just that awesome to be in another Halo.
Hey, Halo fans need a new Sergeant to love. Johnson has passed. Buck will continue that tradition. He may not be as funny as Johnson, but his personality is still as great.
There’s another reason for Buck to be a Spartan IV, asides from the Reach FF Voice descript, he’s survived the Human-Cov War from 2525 starting from Harvest till now. That’s like 33 years, why wouldn’t the UNSC want such an experienced soldier to be a Spartan IV?

I don’t think it’s out of the possibility that Buck and the others could return. After all, Conan O’Brian and Andy Richter are doing cameos. Why not the old ODST squad, which many fans seem to really want.
> hope they include the Rookie’s character too in the campaign or Spartan Ops
The only problem with the Rookie actually coming back is the guy has no name, its like your Spartan in Reach. It was meant to be your character, so how are you even going to know if he/she is back.
As for Buck’s Squad I would love them to be back as Spartans
I don’t think we will see Spartan lV’s as Campaign characters. I think they were created to be able to develop a new aspect of Multiplayer and that players from all around the world can imagine themselves as one of these rather then having characters which we already know as Spartan lV’s.
But I don’t see why Buck can’t show up as an ODST in Campaign.
