I went to a midnight launch in 2014 for a game that didn’t work.
I stuck with said broken game for years despite it being a broken mess and despite the fact that my forge creations have been wiped multiple times now.
I buy the titles on steam, even gifting Halo 2 to my friend only to have my computer constantly crash when I try to install Halo 2.
I have clear the downloads cache, I have clean installed twice, I have tried added the DLC both in-game and using the steam client to no avail.
I think, rather understandably, I have a right to be absolutely furious at this and I really shouldn’t be defending this game or the studio. But I stay loyal and JHC this had better be fixed VERY soon.
i am having the same problem i have done everything u done i also didnt download h2a and i can play reach and halo 1 just fine just when u download the h2a dlc i can click on the game it starts up then it goes straight to black screen after the intro i have to go to task manger to end the task i have been trying to play my mcc since this came out and all i get is black screen

Lucky for you my dude someone in steam steam found me a fix.
Deselect the halo 2 dlc through steam.
Launch the game and navigate to the in game menu to install games.
Choose to install halo 2 MP.
The important step here is to leave it on this window til the install is done then exit the game and restart.
This fix worked for everyone I know.

Try the fix I commented, it’s worked for everyone I’ve told to try it
