H1 Throwback

So we finally get a throwback playlist for rotational, I was pumped! Yet it has H5 abilities? Why in the world would can’t we just have a throwback playlist the way its suppose to be played? We have to deal with abilities in every other playlist, & now they are tossed in our throwback playlists? These maps aren’t meant for abilities. Some decisions made just make me shake my head now.

If it’s the playlist that I think it is, then there was a debate about that when the playlist first came out a long time ago, but I think it was just called an Anniversary playlist and not really a true throwback. Considering it uses the CE pistol from Warzone, abilities like thrust are likely needed due to how OP that version of it is.

What gets me is the map movement. I played a game on Beaver creek, & now its even easier to get onto of that base & just camp there all game… Thats no fun to go up against.

I was never really a fan of Battle Creek and getting on top of the bases was a pain due to the clunky jumping back then, but yeah, it’s not hard at all now and it just turns into what you described with an easy to use pistol.

It is called Anniversary Throwback as per your 1st post Radar Blimps

Yea I could go either way, but if you’re gonna do a throwback H1 playlist I think you should disable abilities for that playlist play them how they were meant to be played. But w/ that said, I don’t think abilities or no is the problem, it’s balancing issues (still… ) and playing too many games in Chill Out. Way too dark and the map overall is clunky and not all that fun. Plus, it took out an actual social game type, castle ctf.

Yeah, you’re correct. This is what they originally said about the playlist back in 2016.

> Halo 5 “Anniversary Throwback” Playlist
> Battle on some of your favorite Halo: Combat Evolved maps re-imagined in Halo 5 thanks to Forge and a number of super talented community builders! I’ve seen Uny working on these maps and they look fantastic. I also know there’s excitement building externally and I want to manage your expectations by clarifying that this is Halo 5 gameplay on sweet Forge re-creations of classic maps with the Halo: CE pistol as the starting weapon.

Link.

It would be cool if they had a CE version of the AR with 60 round magazine and fast fire rate

Yeah I would rather see Castle Wars & Action Sack more often. Probably the only fun/casual game modes left.

Interesting. I wonder why they can’t just leave the abilities out though. Oh well.

Or you could come over to some MCC for the “no abilities” Halo … I have been enjoying some BTB tonight.

I was really pumped to play the insider actually this weekend, got the invitation, yet since I changed my GT I won’t get the insider content anymore… Very disappointed. Was looking forward to some H3.

The insider hub has been pretty cool but I am just on the regular game tonight.

Thing is, we have a permanent CE throwback playlist on MCC. All the weapons and maps work exactly the way they used to, no annoying H5 weapons or abilities messing stuff up, no forge mis-fires that look vaguely right but play completely differently. And it isn’t just limited to CE. Only H4 gets the red-headed step child treatment. Ironically.

I don’t understand the complaint here. It’s a fun throwback playlist in Halo 5. It doesn’t pretend to be anything else. If you want to play Halo CE then play Halo CE. Jump onto MCC matchmaking or invite some friends/family over to play (the latter for the best experience). You’ll get far more satisfaction out of doing that than you will complaining on an online forum.

Why have a throwback playlist if its not a true throwback? Thats what im getting at. We are playing H5 with CE pistols pretty much. Im just looking for an explanation as to why they had to include abilities. Your response was most helpful :+1:t2:

I have enjoyed the throwback playlist in the past, but I may skip it this time. It’s just too much CE magnum and I don’t feel like dealing with that. I will be excited if they add more objective game types in the rotational queue like oddball and assault

Ya… I think Super Fiesta is still pretty casual and fun, but I do see this playlist being a little competitive.

This is by far my favorite playlist in Halo 5. There’s nothing quite like the nostalgia of classic within the skins of modern Halo. I love it. Personally, I wish the Halo 3 Throwback playlist could have been done this way too.

H3 with abilities? Would be interesting. But I really enjoy the classic feel when that playlist rolls around.
