Guys, what part of the community wanted this?

With 343i taking feedback off the Halo community for a game we haven’t played really the best course of action?

When it was revealed that there would be a “Distraction medal” and this was put in because of “fan feedback” it brought up a question: What part of the community did they listen too?

Does it really matter? I mean its just a medal.
Now if they bought back something awful like armor lock and said it was because of fan feedback that might raise questions

Good question… to which I don’t have the answer.

I guess it’s becoming increasingly difficult for them to create new medals with
every title that comes out. Hence the kind of pointless ones that we are now seeing.

Although I can understand it in one way. It gives a very inexperienced player a chance
to gain some medals and boost their confidence in the game?

I think distraction is a good medal, if implemented properly of course.

I’m sure that they have their sources. People probably complained because their kill got stolen by someone across the map and they get no reward for it besides the possible assist medal. But with distraction they get more of a reward.

I for one welcome distraction.

The game is making it easier for kids that are less then good to feel better about the fact they went - 15 and lost the game for the team { but I got all kinds of great medals yeah }

Thanks

Kids aren’t the only ones to go -15 you know. Back when I was five and playing Halo CE i was pretty good.

Another negative point about the Halo community. Many people think the “community” mainly consists of themselves.

Do medals, in any meaningful way, change the outcome of a game?

The question is rhetorical obviously, but it raises an interesting point.

Why do the seemingly “hardcore” fans care that more inexperienced players will be rewarded more for their actions by the implementation of medals?

Infinity Slayer will include awards / cumulative points for these types of assists from what I saw on E3 videos.

I can tell you which community asked for it - the BF3 community

Agreed.

It’s like there’s a bunch of hardcore players that want casuals to get pooped on, have no enjoyment, get no feeling of accomplishment unless they spend 8 hours a day on the game like it’s a job, keep quiet about it and like it.

What do you care if casuals get a few more medals? It’s not like hardcore tryhards won’t be able to get the same medals. Halo’s medal system won’t be discriminating against you because you’re “SOOPER LEET”, you know? Chances are you’ll have exponentially more medals yourself because you’re so badass, right?

I could care less about the medal, but the ‘DISTRACTION!’ announcement needs to go.

In Reach, you can get perfection medals even if you lose. Now there’s a medal just for getting shot at?

Players are being rewarded for the dumbest things.

I’ve seen you post nothing but negative statements yourself.

It’s a perfectly good and reasonable medal. I don’t see it as gimmicky at all. It simply rewards players for more teamwork. Where before you HAD to shoot the enemy to possibly get an assist, now you can aid your team in more subtle ways and still get rewarded. As for ‘hardcore’ players who think the game is catering too much for casuals, grow up.

Hey, it just means more medals for me.

i really dont care if it gets people to want to help the team effort more i say good

double post… Waypoint not working and such…

I think it’s people complaining about how hard it is to get an assist. A distraction counts towards your assist spree. I’m pretty sure as long as you get one bullet into someone and they get killed before their shields recharge it’s also an assist now. I think they were listening to the assist wanting people. They are out thier but the question is who cares? Is a medal going to break the game? I love when the game rewards me for pointless tasks. It makes me feel video game rich.

Let me ask you: has any hardcore player complained about the inclusion of this medal? Is there anyone saying this medal should be removed? The truth is, there is nothing inherently wrong with having the medal in the game. However, what’s also true is the fact that having large amounts of pointless medals for every action of the player serves no purpose. Sure, it certainly boosts the player’s confidence when they see their medal chest full of medals, so it might be a good thing when you want less skilled players enjoy the game. But to be completely honest, it really doesn’t help the player to reward them for doing simple actions. Maybe it’s because I come from an age where gaming was still about challenging your skills and when you were only rewarded from things that are even remotely worth of rewarding, but I really don’t think these pointless medals are worth the effort.

Anyhow, about this community. You people say that you can’t stand hardcore players because they’re jerks. However, has it ever crossed your mind that you aren’t being exactly the role model either? I propose taking a bit more neutral or even positive attitude towards other members of our community. You don’t have to like people, but neither do you have to openly mock them.

No hardcore player has proposed removal of this medal. You made it up that they even care about this medal that is something that really doesn’t impact them. So, all I’m asking here is a bit of tolerance. It’s really not my business do you like those people or not. However, what is my business is the general attitude of this community towards eachother. And I tell you, you aren’t helping it to get better. So please, don’t talk disrespectfully about other people, especially when they have done absolutely nothing and you simply drag them into the subject of discussion.
