Other Halo YouTubers like GeneralKidd and Halo Canon who reported on that same interview (they were all in a discord with 343) have said that the demo is much more recent. Like the rumoured March date in the leak. Alannah Pearce also backs this up.

I prefer gameplay/graphics over story any day.
But demos - especially for the next xbox, are suppose to show what they are capable of, instead what we saw was poor texture/lighting issues. Pretty much digital foundry sums it up nicely - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnQd6W9BxLgAlso, say if the demo was an old build (which it generally is), they said that they have polished it, that demo did not look polished whatsoever, it it was truly work in progress they would have a watermark saying WIP/Alpha etc, it’s quite an oversight tbh if it was a mistake. Right now all the talk is damage control, i wouldn’t be surprised if the current build is what the demo (the 1 min trailer looks slightly better, but it is still pretty bad) currently looks like, because basing off of the graphics manager post, they were happy with how the demo looked.
Also, they released screenshots, sure it may be from the demo, but they could at least show what the current build looks like, but they haven’t which can/will lead people to believe the demo is what the current build looks like.
Still looking forward to the game however, just hope they fix everything in time.
Halo Infinite looks promising, I don’t get why everyone is just omg the graphics is the reason I’m not going to get Infinite. I mean it’s not even completed yet or even polished.

This reminds me to the tweet “if you didn’t react like this to Infinite you’re not a truly Halo fan” and people were literally reacting to a wallpaper. But seriously, independently you are a Bungie “fanboy” or not, you’ve got to admit the graphics in the demo looks insipid and poor.
Regarding how old the demo is, I understand in the interviews 343 only said that it was old, without specifically providing a date. Youtubers’ information about the demo date seems inconsistent, some says is newer, some says is older, but if I had to guess it’s at least two months old.
I just wish 343 would make a post explaining what’s going on and showing actual screenshots. The graphics manager said it’s proud with the graphics of the demo, and it seems and they think it’s good enough to put those images on Steam. I would be pleased if they at least explained what’s going on.
A demo we waited for 5 years
I hope the story is great
Once again a fan accepts mediocrity from a demo which is supposed to be a display of excellence. Demos are not supposed to be proud showings of how undeveloped a build is, and there are far worse detailed game demos out there than Infinite, but at least they try to hide the lack of detail. Even if the game build was old and outdated, at the very least they should’ve ironed out simple things like texture pop-in and added in some very basic and simple scuffing and weathering on the weapon models/assets (and yes I’ve seen the other campaign trailer, it still doesn’t look that much better).
Gameplay > graphics, but up to a point. We shouldn’t be receiving an overdue gameplay demo that’s supposed to showcase a flagship (THE flagship) title of a new and powerful console in such a fashion. Especially when so many of these issues could be fixed really easily. The ring’s vista had a ton of pop-in, and there were these weird hexagonal pillars with plain grey textures stretching out on the horizon, which are still in the more recent build from the 1 min campaign trailer (and no-one will ever persuade me that those look good). The music sets up a very beautiful moment on that elevator but it’s ruined by the actual visuals.
I know 343 probably put in a ton of work for this game, but the demo just comes across as (wrongfully) sloppy, and that’s what I’m upset about. I don’t think the Halo franchise has been this much of a laughingstock since the MCC’s original launch 6 years ago
