Guys, i give you a new weapon that's in Halo 4...

Hear me out before replying yeah?

Now in the book Halo: Contact Harvest Sgt. Johnson uses a weapon unlike any other weapon that we’ve seen in game. He got given it for a special assassination and stealth mission. I give you:

The hard sound rifle.

DUN DUN DUUUUNNNN!

i acts very similar to the sniper, except it kills silenty, instantly, and leaves now visible entry or exit wound. the perfect killing machine.

Now, we know that the UNSC turn up in Halo 4, and i imagine ONI won’t be far behind them to investigate the planet. so what if ONI end up giving cheif the new Mark VII armour, and send him on a mission further into the planet, with this weapon as the main gun?

So like it would be perfect for stealth and sniping missions, the only downside would be whether the enemies spot their dead (i think they will).

what do you think?

if it was in multiplayer it would make for some interesting scennarios where you can’t see the sniper.

thanks for reading

A few things.

The Rifle used by Johnson in Contact Harvest was a Stanchion Gauss Rifle, not a hard sound rifle. A Stanchion would not see much use on the battlefield, as it requires power on a level that only a vehicle or other fixed power source could provide. Theoretically you could use Mjolnir armour as the power source but that still means that they would be extremely rare.

Onto the hard sound rifle. This gun was used in i love bees. It utilizes concentrated sound waves instead of a solid projectile, such as a bullet, a hard sound rifle kills the target instantly and leaves no residue or powder burns and causes little noticeable external damage to the intended target, making the weapon virtually untraceable in forensic investigations. This would be of little use in the Campaign as the Chief would not (going by the way previous games have worked) ever need to make his kills forensically untraceable. As such, a silenced sniper rifle would basically be just as effective. In multiplayer the snipers have always worked in a way that allows players to detect where the gun shots a re coming from, it helps with the balancing and that is not something that should be removed.

That gives me an idea. Maybe we could use Gauss Rifles in Halo 4 but it takes power from our shield. When we shoot the weapon, it could take away our shields, and we’d need to wait for our shields to recharge to use it again. Otherwise, it’d have infinite ammo. You could also do that with a Jackal Shield, it would make a powerful but small shield at the cost of your less strong shield in your armor. Oh, the possibilities!

No the only downside would be if the AI are from Reach, incapable of noticing their dead unless they are alerted audibly (or so I’ve read).

We need the Armory skull effect that was in H3. It was just right. AI weren’t on to the player’s position like the ones in MoH Airborne nor did they immediately return fire like the ones in AA soldiers. Berserking, signs of surprise. That’s the stuff that made CE such a classic, well balanced campaign.

I can think of several scenarios where it would be useful. But yes, a silenced sniper would do.

It would still have ammo. Gauss cannons are like MAC guns. They use a bipolar magnetic field capable of launching a projectile at an incredible speed.
