Now trust me I had Halo 2 since the day it came out yet sadly lost it in time, kinda havent played it must since Halo 3 [time to time] but today stuff happend to convince me to buy Halo 2 again [original broke/got lost]
Besides instant nostalgia and “good ol days” syndrome I was hit with the sad realization of NO XBOXLIVE. I was just playing campaign, got boring at The Oracle (i know it picks up dont worry) but I was looking around the MP maps.
My soul wanted to tear, looking at those maps, thinking of the days on xboxlive. I didn’t see full party of people on Absention battling for the tower :[. I didn’t see BTB on Waterworks, I got on top of Contatinment but alas…I was alone, driving in a white bright sea of memory.
The glitches just didn’t seem the same. It was a ghost of what it was. Of course I’ll have friends to come over to play split screen. Yet sadly the days of Halo2 online are dead, I knew it awhile ago but it never hit me oh how long ago it was, and how awesome it was.
I will say, I was 14 when Halo 2 came out, 21 now, I wish, I hope, I pray that if they don’t do a remake they at least put Halo 2 back online. I think if 343 found a way to just allow Halo2 on 360 live I would…well I would just be too damn happy.
I miss it. Miss the glitches, I miss battling my friends, strangers, I miss the clans, I miss the effing blue screen, I miss the hacks. At the time I may have been frustated from a lot in Halo2 but I would give a lot to be able to play Halo 2 online again. [Vista doesn’t count, sorry, It’s cool but it’s still not the same]
Meh, but perhaps I’m just a man living in the past.
yes lets do a H2 remake. and then a H3 remake. and then an ODST remake. and another H:CE remake. and then a H4 remake before H5 comes out. and then a second H2 remake. H5 is released and a month later the H5 remake comes out. the H6 remake is released before the actual H6 begins development. then another H:CE remake…
I was playing more today and decided to explore the options, customability, etc. On top of hearing that grand music in the background I was reminded of simpler times. Not to say Halo 2 had better options however it was still a blast from the past I didn’t expect.
Seeing the options them selves were pretty nostalgic, remember voice masking? Other options as well were pretty cool. The simple emblem and color system. I remember all the funny, crude and cool emplems people would make [yea I’m talkin about the “rocket ship” lol]
Campaign is fun, afterall I think it may be pretty long or perhaps it’s just the way it feels. The levels are pretty linear and I do agree Halo 3 really did open the game up again but none the less Halo 2 is fun. And I still miss online :-/

Wait a minute, I agreed with everything you said except that linear stuff, I’ve experienced more freedom in H2 CMP than any other Halo so I’m not sure what you mean by linear.
As in it’s more closed off, not as open as Halo:CE or other halo games. The open maps are not as open as the others. It’s closed off. It’s legth comes at a price.

Yeah I agree with party chat. It’s convenient but at a price. During the H2 days I’d meet great people to play with on a daily basis, nowadays I don’t even bother listening to public chat because it’s usually people talking crap or what’s really sad, people just out there to annoy others on purpose - showing off in front of someone in their house.

I disagree with the campaign comment. Halo 3 felt really enclosed whereas Halo 2 really kicked off the tricking community. Remember HIH?
I had some fun times with Halo 2’s campaign… Driving around the ocean in Regret/Delta Halo was a highlight and flying the banshee around Metropolis. Awesome. Halo 3 to me seemed like there was invisible barriers everywhere.

I respect your opinion but here are some examples of the open game play:
There’s hundreds of other vids for playing this game with complete freedom.

My brothers I agree on that however remember if Halo3 and Halo Reach didn’t have so many -Yoink- anti-glitch/exploring barriers they would be bigger still.
Halo 2 and HaloCE are def the best for exploring, Halo 3 would be the next and Halo:Reach would be last.
I made an entire thread about how Halo Reach #ucked up with invis barriers. Halo Reach has HUGE landscapes, could you imigine how awesome it would be if you could explore them!. Just look at “Tip of the Spear”, Or Sword base, or any of the maps really.

> Reece, what was your user name at HIH?
I never posted at all after the forums completely changed. I can’t remember which upgrade it was. Everybody seemingly had to re-register if that helps.
Before that I wasn’t really that active anyway. I do remember emailing Ducain once though after one of the forum descriptions had a misspelling, got an email back saying thanks. There, I did my part.
I just browsed it for the awesome tricks. If you’re actually Grumpy then may I say, I’ve watched a lot of your stuff in the past and it was awesome.
Just did a search in my emails, my first username was simply Reece then the other (when we all had to register again) was my XBL GT at the time, Nyxiz. Way back in 05 and 06.
I had my two friends over today and we played some hunting game, COD3 and Halo 2…
I swear Halo {all} have a charm, a way of you having fun without even playing. With today we made extremely stupid names and just made funny emplems. Played FFA, Team Slayer and 2v2 TOP. It was great
Yet as I was saying before halo is not just fun in game, it can be fun out of game. Messing around with the options, gametypes, Reach is AWESOME in this, just look at the pictures and maps. Some funny stuff.
Yet Halo 2 was still fun on MP, It was a damn fun time of nostalgin.

Agreed, I miss Halo 2 so much. I wish I played it more on Xbox Live.
