The Gungoose is impossible to balance in the sandbox; if it’s too good, it invalidates both the Warthog and the Ghost so its doomed to be useless.
Halo Wars 2’s Jackrabbit would be the best choice for a scout vehicle. There’s only one passenger so they don’t have to worry about redundancy with the Warthog or Mongoose, and it’d be fast enough to justify actual scouting. Plus the pilot would actually be armored unlike the Mongoose, but I’d make the trade-off of increased vulnerability during boosting so you’d have to use it sparingly. I think it’d be more useful in 4v4 BECAUSE there wouldn’t be reliance on a teammate (that would die easily due to how exposed they are anyway). 343i seems to care about balance so here’s hoping they make the right call
The game has not yet come out and we are already talking about balancing things. Let’s calm down. Also, I personally consider that balancing everything 100% is impossible and makes the game boring. If you want a 100% balanced game, try chess.

Well said. Balancing has, for whatever reason, come to mean that every weapon or vehicle needs to be as powerful as the others. However, proper balancing means powerful weapons like the Rocket Launcher utterly annihilate everything else because they are power weapons, but they are harder to acquire.

Totally agree. The good balance is that more powerful weapons and vehicles cost more to obtain. Not balancing power to equalize everything.

I usually agree, but this is balancing for the sake of diversity. The Gungoose is lame and the Jackrabbit is badass. Who doesn’t want a more badass vehicle?
Balance aside, they really ought to add some Halo Wars vehicles to the mainline games, because some of them are really incredible. I would love to pilot a Locust in campaign and go around zapping the Banished with its mini excavation beam!
Well maybe the jackrabbit wil make its way into Infinite, but I’m sorry to tell you gungoose is already confirmed from the gameplay footage.
Guess we’ll see what role it will fulfill this time in the sandbox when flights start =)

You say that like the Gungoose was anything remotely useful to begin with.
You know why the Ghost is good? Because it doesnt flip over every damn rock in existence (compared to the Mongoose/Gungoose). That and its guns are good at peppering shields and when ramming is risky.
The gungoose is just too situational and barely useful.
In any situation where the Gungoose is good, I’d rather have a Ghost or a Hog or a Chopper or literally just a gun and a good position.
Wouldn’t the jackrabbit have the same issue of invalidating the ghost?

They’d both be Scout Bikes, but I imagine the Ghost would be better for Offensive Fire since it’d have better guns and armor, while the Jackrabbit would be better for Support since it’d have better speed but fragile durability and less frequent fire (assuming it’d have a grenade launcher) so there wouldn’t be much redundancy.
Like, the Ghost would be used for offensive attack on a base while the Jackrabbit would be for flanking the base from a sideline
