It can be fun to think about possibilities for guns in halo. One that I would love to see is an “acceleration canon” that works close range and blasts enemies away, if they are close to a wall and don’t have time to slow down then they’ll die when hitting it. Additionally, if they hit into another enemy then it will splatter the other player. This has good potential for clips and seems like it would make for fun gameplay.
Please share your ideas for guns below and maybe 343 will include them, who knows?
Generally when I hear gun ideas on Waypoint they aren’t all that great. But your ‘Air Blaster’ thing sounds really interesting. Imagine launching a Warthog off an edge with that.
It would be neat to see more sandbox focused weapons in the future, like a Gravity Grenade which has a similar impact to a gravity hammer (sending debris flying in all directions), or an Equipment Magnet which forces an enemy player to drop their equipment.
A support weapon that causes an enemy to take extra damage from other sources for a period of time would be really cool. If it’s UNSC it could be like a dart gun, but it fires a small device that “latches” to enemies or vehicles and disrupts their armor systems, weakening shields and armor as well as preventing health/shield regeneration for a short time before running out of energy and falling to the ground. Being a projectile, you would have to lead your shot a bit to land it but it would not have tracking or anything and it’s travel time would be much faster than, say, plasma or a rocket. If it misses the target a nice visual touch would be if it still latches on to whatever it connects to and does its thing, but it just has no effect on walls, or inanimate objects. The gun needs to be reloaded after every shot, but it’s not an overly long reload animation. It would also swap as quickly as a pistol, so you can very easily stick someone with it, and switch to another weapon to take advantage of the weakened enemy if you don’t have teammates around. Though it wouldn’t tip the scales as much as a Plasma Pistol/Headshot combo in a 1v1.
Maybe it could also do a very minor amount of damage-per-second. Like enough to maybe drain 1/4 shields over the course of the duration it’s active? Just so that it’s still capable of doing something useful if the enemy takes cover and you can’t capitalize on it fully. It would make for some fun scenarios where sometimes an enemy will manage to get behind cover, but it’s too late and the minor damage they are taking still finishes them off.

Just like the H5 Beam rifle variant, which when shot makes enemy’s or teammates fly everywhere? If scaled up a little more, I think that would be really fun to use.
