Guide to unlocking every permanent REQ card...

I did this in notepad, so excuse my lack of formatting. After watching a couple videos made by Angry Joe (whom I respect, and enjoy watching), I got a little upset with the information he was giving out saying it would take 680 hours to unlock all the permanent items in the REQ system. I knew this was wrong, and set out to prove it. This takes into account all permanent items - Helmets, Armors, Visors, Emblems, Stances, Assassinations, Skins, ARs, BRs, DMRs, SMGs, Armor Mods, Weapon Certs, Vehicle Certs, and Power-up Certs. Here are the list of items, broken down by their type and rarity.

Bronze packs can contain Common permanent cards, and in my experience I get a permanent unlock in every other pack on average.
Silver packs contain anything from Common to Rare permanent cards, and guarantee you 2 permanent unlocks per pack.
Gold packs contain anything from Uncommon to Legendary permanent cards, and guarantee you 2 permanent unlocks per pack.

That being said, here’s a little math (with some wording for comprehension…)

128 common items (you could actually just get all these in the rare packs as well, but just keeping this bronze to make the bronze packs feel better about themselves. Plus there’s a chance that you can get permanent items more often than every 2 packs, thus saving you REQ points)
128 common items x 1250 REQ points x 2 (saying you get 1 common permanent item in every other bronze pack on average) = 320,000 REQ points

161 uncommon items and 286 rare items
((286 rare items + 161 uncommon items) x 5000 REQ points) / 2 (2 permanent unlocks per silver pack) = 1,117,500 REQ points

186 ultra-rare items and 137 legendary items
((137 legendary items + 186 ultra-rare items) x 10000 REQ points) / 2 (2 permanent unlocks per gold pack) = 1,615,000 REQ points

Total REQ points needed:
320,000 + 1,117,500 + 1,615,000 = 3,052,500 REQ points

You earn about 6,000 REQ points per hour (Warzone):
3,052,500 / 6,000 = 508.75 hours to unlock everything in the game, or 21.2 days.

That’s 171.25 hours less than what Angry Joe stated, and unfortunately, everything he says gets embedded in the brains of millions of YouTube viewers. If people took the time to research things for themselves, and make up their own minds, there would be less verbal diarrhea on the internet.

TLDR Edit:
If you are going for unlocking every single thing in the game, I would stick to bronze and silver first…before opening gold. You will get all of the lower tiered items for a cheaper price. If you buy a Gold pack, and get two uncommon or rare items, you basically screwed yourself out of 5,000 REQ points. You can get 2 Silver packs instead of 1 Gold pack, and you’re guaranteed 2 common to rare items in each Silver pack.

I would also stick to Silver/Bronze packs at first, that way when you want to save up for a Gold pack (and hope to get something Legendary or Ultra-Rare) you have a better chance of getting something worth 10,000 REQ points.

Thanks for reading.

I have absolutely no idea what to do with said information. A lot of math. Not a lot of guide.

Does this mean I should stick to lowballing with bronze packs until I get all the common armor, or should I still save up for gold each time, since common armor is not mutually exclusive to gold packs?

That’s because Joe based his off what he was currently getting which was 900 points. He also later said it could be gotten down to 400 if you play really well.

So far the best average I’ve seen in war zone was 1,8-9k. Either way its still a very depressing amount.

Long story short:

buy 223 Silver packs, and then buy 162 Gold packs.

This is all based off of what I’ve experienced so far, so I’m not sure what the actual average is. In my Warzone matches, I usually get around 1,800 on the losing team, and 2,200 on the winning team, which averages to 2,000 points per match. The average game lasts about 20 mins, so 3 matches in an hour gives you 6,000 points.

I get 287 Silver and 162 Gold, but yeah basically…TLDR.

Very math. Much wow!

But seriously, I have been focusing on bronze packs until I noticed the certifications and other stuff start to trickle in (like 1 permanent card in 4 packs) and now I’m switching to Silver packs to see what happens.

P.S.
Your math will have to change when the update and new REQs come out.

Yeah I probably won’t update it, I just wanted to prove to myself that his evaluation was wrong and thought I would share. Plus it helps to know that Silver packs are the way to go when starting off…with sprinkling in a Gold every once in a while for fun. Plus my math would have to change considering you probably sell back 75% of your Bronze packs, and some of your Silvers.

I want those legendary but yeah this is the best way

Didn’t bother converting the Bronze unlocks to Silver, so yeah, yours is probably closer to the truth.

It might actually take less than that since there are some helmets, armours and emblems that could only be unlocked if you played the Master Chief Collection and if you played the Beta. It might not be a whole lot less, but it probably cuts down a few hours from trying to get them since they are all legendary as well.

Yeah I didn’t want to take everything possible into account…not to mention the emblems that you unlock after completing Commendations and certain ranks. I just went very generic, in order to match up to what AJ was doing. Like I said too, you would also sell a ton of junk cards and get REQ points back, making your time played a lot less.

Ewe. 343i why … I play other games too …

And that is not based on using bonuses like Bonus REQ points. Use those and it will be even more.

What I usually do is play, buy silver, then when I get off I buy a gold. Yes it is technically a waste but I honestly don’t find myself getting all the gear. I gamble for the goods.

I want the legendary stuff. Not gotten a stance or assassination yet

That’s in the situation of having warzone games that last around 30 minutes, and obtaining 3k req points each game.
And that’s in the case of playing only warzone…

For sure silvers before golds. At least if you don’t like gamboling like myself. Pulling down two silvers got me a lot of REQ weapons in pretty short order. Of course you are still going to get a lot of symbols, armors and helmets but if you can clear the silvers (common through rare) it makes the golds a LOT more fun, because everything is ultra rare or legendary.
