Alright, so I am here to talk about the Guardians since it seems not many people are talking about them and how they will relate to H5. Most of the speculation I have seen has to do with the Didact and Cortana, however, I think the Guardians are even more important (Might make sense given the name of the game =p).
To start off I know H5 will be playable in several hours and the premier starts in about an hour and a half, but I am posting this to see what everyone else thinks what the Guardians really are before we find out.
Ever since the first trailer at E3 I noticed two things, Cortana’s chip was unfilled and the Guardian looks like a bird. So if you think hard enough there is a bird called the Phoenix which represents rebirth and Cortana’s unfilled chip which represents something that is dead. This makes me lead to the conclusion that perhaps this Guardian, specifically, can “revive” things, perhaps chief wants it to revive Cortana. In H4, we learned that the forerunners were able to combine the digital and physical realms, essentially becoming immortal, however, that did not pan out properly. So it easily makes sense that forerunners were able to create AI’s that were immortal or could be brought back to life, within the digital world.
That being said, Guardians are normally thought of as Gate Keepers to something. So perhaps each Guardian is a Gate Keeper of something. These Gate Keepers can potentially act on their own and may even have their own, independent, promethean army. The reason I say this is because in a recent trailer, one promethean actually talks and says Chief is allowed to enter the Guardian but Locke is not. This makes it appear to me that something else has happened perhaps the Didact does not control all prometheans and maybe the librarian was able to create her own “army.” In addition, Chief is after these, but the stories, never hint at him trying to destroy or stop them.
In all, these Guardians must be gate keepers of something else (it’s been confirmed they are not a battle ship or anything of that sort), something much more. Perhaps they are the Guardians of knowledge, specifically different types of knowledge that will destroy all who are not worthy of that knowledge.
What do you think?
