"Guardian" Should Be Remade In Halo 5: Guardians

It would only be fitting. Guardian just so happens to be my favorite map of all time and is a popular fan favorite, and it works well for competitive and casual gametypes alike. Now, obviously with all the new abilities the map will have to be redesigned a bit, so it can’t be exactly as it was in Halo 3 proportion-wise, but it would still be a fantastic map choice for a remake. Can anyone come up with any names for the map should it be remade in Halo 5: Guardians?

EDIT: Some people don’t think Guardian would be a good choice for a remake because it wouldn’t resemble the original closely enough. Truth and Regret don’t resemble Midship very much, but I still love those maps, and I like to think about the map they took inspiration from. Perhaps I should use the term “spiritual successor” instead of “remake”, as it would be more appropiate, whatever you want to call it. I still think Guardian would be a prime choice for Halo 5.

That’d be awesome, but I’m afraid H5’s gameplay would cause such a remake to be more so like a Halo: Reach Zealot/Midship ordeal. Guardian was an excellent, but really small map…I don’t know. Ultimately I won’t be playing it, so I’ll leave my opinion at that.

Still, I always thought Guardian deserved a remake. Unfortunately, I think the one (maybe only) reason it hasn’t been remade is the drastic differences in fundamental gameplay. Maps like Lockout and Guardian won’t ever be remade if they don’t play, look, and feel VERY similar to the originals.

Maybe. In fact I think that’s true a lot of the time. However, some maps define a game because of how perfectly they fit a style of gameplay, and Guardian is definitely one of those type of maps. If you kept the general layout of Guardian, I really don’t think sprint could not become a big problem.

Guardian is really…really small. Even as slow as Halo 3 player base movement was…you can go from one end of Guardian to the other pretty damn fast. I could be wrong, but I just see a H5 Guardian remake bloating one of the best Halo maps ever to the point where it’d not even be worth saying it’s a remake.

If you have to totally change the map. Just make a new, original map.

Why would I not sprint? I can shift sightlines faster. I can aid teammates faster. I can clean up weakened enemies faster. Etc, etc, etc.

Guardian would be a literal cluster -Yoink- of -Yoink- with sprint. Unless you altered the map so much that it didn’t even resemble guardian anymore and that point, what is the point.

The remake or rendition should be called Reclaimer…

Vanguard

Larger in general, but now there’s more solid ground in the form of rocks and tree branches under the map for more pathways to traverse, but there’s still plenty of open space to fall to your death. A button can transform the yellow lift into a man cannon that shoots players to an extended sniper nest on the opposite side, and back to lift after a certain time has passed. Destructible tree branches and triggered waterfalls can be shot to clear enemies from power positions and obscure the center platform.

I like the name, and the extra space underneath the map in the form of rocks and branches could be interesting, dynamic map features… sounds pretty good. I’m not thrilled by the idea of gold lift shooting you across the map, but the rest is cool.
