Okay so yes, I will not be getting Halo 5, why am I even on these forums, etc. Etc. Etc.
Now that that is out of the way I’d like people to think back to Halo 3. Most of you remember the multiplayer map Guardian and to a lot of us it is a fan favorite map, but what the heck is up with the environment and setting of that map? That wasn’t in the campaign I played. Well it was actually supposed to be. The cut level was called “Guardian Forest” and in it as Master Chief you were supposed to fight a giant Forerunner construct called a Guardian. It was a very large floating angular robot like enemy that upon defeating it you could rip out its laser eye and use that as a weapon. Now this level and several other aspects of Halo 3 were scrapped due to time constraints and the like. Is this same enemy Guardian going to be one of the things you face and or take control of in Halo 5 Guardians? Coincidence or intentional? What do you guys think?
I think 343i needs to start showing more environmental maps like Guardian :l

Get over what? What exactly are you telling me to get over? I’m just asking do you think what was cut in Halo 3 might be further explained in the story they tell in Halo 5. You seem to need to calm yourself.

It was very intentional. Guardians are part of lore and relevant to this rise of the Prometheans. It was cut from Halo 3, yes, but now it gets to live to see the light of day. I don’t know about using its eyeball as a weapon, considering the size of the thing (the eye would be massive).
I’m hoping that they either include a spiritual successor to the map Guardian in Halo 5, or possibly have an area of the campaign resemble the map.

Interesting, well I’ll have to see on YouTube when it comes out then lol Also I’m not so keen on the whole Promethean thing but am intrigued by the idea of the Guardians, something that we never got to see before but only heard about way back then.
H3 had awesome diversity in it’s maps so yea, more maps like that. H5 is shipping with 5 maps at launch, so it will have diversity.

Stop over analyzing. Devs do this kind of thing all the time. Look at the ajundants in ME3 for instance. Scrapped because of time constraints they were used in the Omega DLC. I am more surprised this was not done with the flood juggernaut

This will be the last time I respond to you in particular as you seem bent on trying to shut down the conversation I would like to start and seem to be an extremely negative individual. That said, yes the Flood juggernaut would be fun to see added in to Halo but I don’t see the Flood being in Halo 5 with its T rating as many have stated before. Though I don’t think we have seen the last of the Flood.

Why are you sitting out Halo 5? Just out of curiosity, not trying to criticize or convince you to get it. And I am most certainly not saying that you have no business discussing the game, because you do. I see you played the beta, so I assume either you didn’t enjoy it or you swore an oath after the MCC fiasco, but I figured I’d ask anyway.

I agree I think the flood may return likely in future games but that remains to be seen

Lol it’s a simple fact of development that is heard of very VERY often actually. The underlying, implied point is that YES likely the guardians share the same basic concept as they were incubated in the lore way back when…and YES if used it will be likely in an upgraded way of what was originally thought of (if a fight actually happens) but chances are lore wise they might be entirely different…scale wise guardians are likely much bigger than the original concept and the whole “ripping its eye off” might not even be feasible

I won’t go too in depth here as to why I am not getting Halo 5 as my main point here is to get people thinking about the “Guardian” that was cut from Halo 3, but I will give a brief explanation here: I won’t be getting Halo 5 because I did not enjoy the direction 343i tried to take Halo 4 in any regard. (Note this is my personal opinion so please respect it) I thought Halo 4 had a horrific art direction, the graphics were deplorable in a lot of ways including one scene where a Covenant CCS class battle cruiser seemingly falls apart for no reason. Sure a missile hit it but there were hardly any realistic or logical explosions and it just falls apart. They changed Master Chief’s armor with zero in game explanation as well as the entire Forward Unto Dawn, there are major plot holes and character flaws/inconsistencies throughout and even tackling the campaign on legendary I found the ai to be severely lacking in comparison to previous games thus making gameplay dull and repetitive. The multiplayer was trying super hard to be something it wasn’t thus losing its Halo feel plus the bullet magnetism was through the roof so even if you completely missed the headshot it still gave you the headshot so no challenge there. 343 has also proven to not support the custom game or machinima community with little to no support for filesharing/film saving. Plus the MCC was one of the biggest professional screw ups I’ve seen that is still not fixed. So no, I will not be giving them any money towards their next project when they still haven’t completed their most recent (The MCC).
Sorry but I had to get that out. Back to the thinking about Halo 3 cut content having a connection to the plot of Halo 5 for the point of discussion.

It’s been talked about. There’s not a lot on the Guardians from Bungie times, but it was to appear in Halo 3. http://www.halopedia.org/Guardian_Sentinel.
Also, the eye that you were supposed to use as a weapon was an Easter Egg in Halo 4 on Ivanoff Station.
last i checked we never went to sand trap, blackout, standoff, the pit or many other maps in the campaign. each map had a description and that serves as it’s lore connection, “Millennia of tending has produced trees as ancient as the Forerunner structures they have grown around.” being guardian’s. also guardians are what the games have always attributed to nonassignable deaths. yes there was the cut content of guardian forest that became guardian (more accurately guardian was based on the initial assets of the level). but i think you’re reading way to hard into this. we have never had in the games, or the extended universe, a decent explanation as to what a guardian is so H5G will be the definitive explanation unless they are explained during halo escalation or hunt the truth season 2 before the game’s release

I found the beta while much more enjoyable than Halo 4 (I seriously messed people up with the SMG, you can keep your almighty battle rifle lol) to not quite be what I want from Halo multiplayer. I was turned off by the dude bro Spartan scenes before and after matches and I don’t like how they told the announcer to say every little detail with an over enthusiastic voice. The bullet magnetism still seems to be there and overall I found it to be meh when compared to the fun I have playing older Halo games. Combine that with the reasons I gave before regarding Halo 4 and the MCC and you might have a better understanding as to why I’m sitting out Halo 5.
More than anything else, thank you for being respectful, I greatly appreciate that especially in online forums.

Go on Google or Halopedia.org and search Guardian Forest. Should be an easy find. There are also several articles on the matter.

Not trying to be disrespectful to your opinion but the dude bro Spartan scenes have been tuned down to just walking and I’m pretty sure the announcer was fixed in more recent versions of the multiplayer. And a lot of the stuff that you talked about in Halo 4 isn’t in Halo 5 (although that ship breaking apart was pretty hilarious). But if it doesn’t float your boat, I understand. Quick question, though. Out of curiosity, what were the inconsistencies and plot holes from Halo 4?
