Grunts are turning into the Jar Jar Binks of Halo

Am I the only one who thinks that having the grunts being one of the only, If not the only sources of comedy in the Halo games isnt helping? I really enjoy when the actual characters of the game have some comedic moments (ODST did this ok). It just feels like an injustice to the grunts that they are the laughing stock of the community. Theyre already the weakest enemy in the games (most of the time), why do they have to scream horrible jokes in a high pitched squeal?
I do like that the enemies speak in a language we can understand, but I think that Halo: Reach’s approach was closer to the correct tone of the universe.
Im not saying to turn grunts into ultra-demon lords, but at least give them a little dignity as a fighting force, and let the characters have more interesting moments.

There was only one grunt that stood his own and made a spartan retreat. I forgot his name but its in a Halo Canon video.
edit- Sorry its not a spartan II. However the grunt named Stolt wounded a Spartan and forced that spartan to retreat. I feel sorry for that spartan… LOL

They fill the role of cannon fodder , also in the halo universe is well explained why the grunts can speak an human language …

LONG LIVE FLIPYAP

I disagree.

I don’t think you fully understand what Jar-Jar Binks is. Why would you compare our Grunts to that thing?

I dont care that theyre cannon fodder, and I like that they speak “human.” I just dont like that theyre one step away from telling poop jokes in the middle of the campaigns.

Grunts aren’t supposed to be good at all though. They say that the grunt only even did anything because they came in by the thousands and just overwhelmed them.

Theyre both cheap comedy devices.

The grunts also almost wiped out the covenant. Only reason they didnt was because one of the old Arbiters had the Unggoy planet glassed.

How come?

JAr Jar binks is supposed to be cheap comedy.
But its not comedy if no one laughs. He’s so unrealisticly stupid it ruins the whole movie.

The grunts are awesome though. They make me chuckle quite often and aren’t completely stupid.

Grunts the race of midgets that almost single handedly brought down the covenant once.

They spoke English in the first game and said a lot of dumb stuff, are you just asking for better writing? I don’t really get your point as far as being Jar Jar they are no where close to Jar Jar in terms of annoying and enraging fans for just existing.

i agree the grunts are the funniest people in the game

The difference is, you can shoot these Jar-Jars in the head. Over, and over, and over… not unlike how the real Jar-Jar should have ended up.

Actually Halo has become jar jar itself… hahaha

I thought buck was a great character for comic relief. Maybe it’s not your style. Grunts aren’t the only source of light hearted moments in h5.

The image I picture of those battles and ensuing destruction is both kinda terrifying and hilarious at the same time…

The grunts have always been the comedic relief of Halo, though the Marines also had some pretty awesome lines (something that’s been missing in 343’s Halos). And with Reach, Bungie wanted to tell a more serious story about the fall of an entire planet, which is why the Grunts were a little more serious in that game, but they were always meant to be funny.
