I played a lot of warzone firefight, and I am currently trying to finish all of my commendations. However for some reason, my grunt mech slayer count wont go up. I am at level 1 with 0 kills in that commendation. I also killed 3 grunt mechs to be sure it was a bug before posting in the forums.
I read all rules but I still don’t know if this is the place to report matchmaking glitches.
Are you making sure that you’re landing the kill shot? You’ll get the medal for putting shots on him, but you don’t get credit towards the commendation if you aren’t the one to land the kill shot.
Make sure you’re also getting the medal for a grunt kill as well as the boss kill when he dies. That’s how you’ll know that you’ve killed him. I haven’t experienced a bug or anything since I’m already at level 5.

I completed that commendation yesterday and making sure you get the grunt kill medal is the only way to further the commendation. I have never gotten the commendation to increase without that medal, and I have always had the commendation increase when I got that medal.
If it’s like the Warden one then you will kill about 800 and get commendation credit for half. Medal does not equal credit and it’s kinda a luck thing
Not a bug. Get the kill shot and your valor on the battlefield will be rewarded.
You know when you get the kill shot when a red X appears. This signifies the last shot.

So the old flaw where you do most of the damage, but someone else comes in and gets the last shot. Great
So, the trick here is to make sure you’re using either something that does a massive amount of damage, like a tank shot, that easily kicks his health way over the edge (giving you credit for the kill), or automatic-style weapons fire like a ghost or turret that fires 100+ rounds a minute (to increase your chances of one of your bullets being the “last shot”). Either one will help your commendation count.
I suggest a Wraith Ultra, I had troubles getting my Warden kills and the Wraith got me the killshot 90% of the time. I think from the splash effect the vehicle has with the plasma blasts.
I’ve been struggling with the same issue. I’ve taken out many grunt mech slayer. I’ve never received credit for any of them. Don’t stress yourself out about it. It’s still fun to play.

You have to get the killing shot to get credit for the commendation. The best way I’ve found to do this is to get something like a spartan laser, sentinel beam, or plasma rifle and take down the mech’s shield. Then just headshot the grunt inside.
This reminds me of how much I HATE grunt mechs. But yeah, it’s either get lucky or spray n’ pray (get it?) with a saw.
