Grunt Goblin One-Shot from Half-Health

Edit: This was a bug, and was fixed today, on 8 September, 2016.

So, some may remember how I posted a clip of me one-shot killing Deacon Pipap with an “End of the Line” sniper (Clip 1 at the bottom of the post).

Well, I’ve done it again, finally. This time, it was on a generic Legendary Grunt Goblin, but it was, too, done with the last round of an “End of the Line” sniper (Clip 2 at the bottom of the post). Here are all conclusions I can draw from this:

-The sniper round overpenetrates the Goblin, hitting the pilot’s head, killing the boss.
-This seems to need to be lined up perfectly in order to kill him instantly.
-I have only done this after the Goblin’s face has broken, so it is undetermined whether or not it works while the face is undamaged.
-Since this works because of the Sniper’s overpenetration, it should work on all snipers, though it has only been tested with the “End of the Line.”

This could be used against the Goblin on particularly difficult rounds, like round 5 on “Raid on Apex 7,” to get rid of it quickly. This could actually make that round easier. If we could make this known to the entire community, we could make Firefight just a bit more bearable.

I’m sorry, but I have no skill. This was just a lucky shot. If you want my skill, finding a four-leaf clover or getting a rabbit’s foot would be your best bet.

I almost considered snipers next to useless in firefight because of all the baddies spongyiness

I too have done this, but with the regular sniper rifle, BUT, we had 2 mechs to deal with, and while I was able to do it to one of them, it didn’t work on the other one.
Either I missed the pilot, or it is a “bug” with the Mech.

One of my fireteam member use a BINARY RIFLE made just something like OP. Kill the Goblin when it even have almost half of it health bar.
So, this is way to kill Goblin easily.

But, still hard…

Yeah I’ve one hit killed it with a regular Binary Rifle once and a Kriths left hand, and both times this happened the mech’s head was damaged and it was atleast at half health other times ive tried it was generally close to full health and was yet not physically damaged, these attempts were unsucessful

Binary is the way to go. semi automatic only means you get more are coverage and ultimately, a better chance.

Thanks for the info OP.
I managed to kill this one with a binary rifle a few days ago. Grunt goblin had 25 % of its health left. I was near the req station, near the little “building”. Good line of sight and far enough from the boss and his minions, safe place.

Then the two other bosses were two hunters, and a teammate with a wraith killed them ONE second before the end of the round. We won.

I did this to one of the goblins the other day on Skirmish at Darkstar map. I was using the Halo 2 beam rifle delta though (the one that shoots voids tear explosions), it had about 75% of his hp left when I took a shoot and BOOM insta-killed.

That has never happened to me before, nor have I ever seen anyone do it! I will definitely try to do this next time!

I love your modesty. And it’s usually these type of people who are the best in every sense of the word.

Btw I tried it with the 1st sniper rifle didnt work. Only works with end of line or higher. Tried once with EOL worked tried with sniper rifle nothing.
