Grunt Funeral Skull for CEA

With the Grunt Funeral skull for legacy CEA, I know it was a bonus code for preordering the game, but the Halo wiki states that it was made available for all players on December 12th 2014 (Grunt Funeral | Halo Alpha | Fandom), but it doesn’t specify if that was for CEA, H2A or MCC. Do I still need to get my hands on a code to unlock it in CEA, or should it already be there? If I don’t need a code, how can I unlock it?

Halo: The Master Chief Collection was released in November that year, so I would imagine it was mentioning that. If it was mentioning the legacy version, however, then it saying the skull was a Best Buy exclusive is highly inaccurate as I live in the UK and got it when I pre-ordered the game.

It also says the skull was a Best Buy exclusive, which is highly inaccurate as I live in the UK and got it when I pre-ordered the game. Just like the pre-order bonuses of Halo: Reach before it, the skull can only be unlocked via a code that shipped with the game.

I am aware that MCC was released November 11th 2014, but as I said, the wiki page stated that the skull was made available to everyone, but it didn’t specify which game it was talking about. It could have been referencing MCC (I have seen stuff around about Grunt Funeral being a DLC), it could have been referencing CEA, I couldn’t tell because the statement was vague and didn’t specifically say which game. The quick info box on the right hand side of the page also only includes info from CEA and H2A, not MCC.

While making my initial response to your comment, I decided to do some digging and found a Waypoint news post from just a few days before MCC dropped back in 2014 where it states “With the exception of the pre-order skulls (which will unlock globally on December 12, noted with an *) and Swarm, every skull is unlocked and available from the start.” (https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/the-halo-bulletin-your-journey-begins). From this, it can be deduced that the statement on the wiki about the skull being made available to everyone was about MCC. With that in mind, I have gone onto the wiki and edited the statement to reflect this so as to not cause more confusion in the future.

Now knowing that it was about MCC and not CEA, I’ll have to search around for a code if I want the Grunt Funeral skull in CEA.

I would guess that they refer to the fact that the Grunt Funeral skull is available to everyone in MCC. However, it’s still only an exclusive to few players in the game Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.
