So Grunts have long been established as literally slaves, who’re bred as fast as possible, shipped into battle, most kept uneducated so they can’t rise up and revolt. Now that the Covenant’s control over them has slipped to some degree, I’d love to see some factions of grunts that are standing on their own and becoming independent.
Specifically I’d like to fight along side of these grunts. There’s so much potential to make them interesting characters, and we know they can learn and speak english without a translator, based on some of the early books.
if friendly AI got an overhaul in H5, and was balanced to not be too dominant but still fun to fight alongside, I could imagine backing up a grunt squad as master chief being one of the most memorable parts of the game!
That’s an interesting idea.
I always think about them like if they were annoying, little -Yoinks!-. But on my Hate List the 1st place is for the Brutes.

yeah, I’d like to get away from them feeling like they’re just annoying and silly, and get the Brutes away from all behaving like cartoon villains.
There’s potential for certain members of all races to be friendlies now, as the covenant is now split up into so many factions, and many of them don’t want to fight Humans any more. And just in general, even your opponents shouldn’t all act exactly the same. being part of a species shouldn’t make you a caricature.
I’d love it.
Especially since my favorite Campaign mission out of any Halo was the first time you played the Arbiter in H2.
You step off a ship, surrounded by Grunts and Elites, some of them with energy swords and beam rifles…
It felt incredible.
And we all know that if Grunts were trained better they’d be much more of a threat, they did have their own rebellion that took a lot of firepower to take down.
That would be pretty interesting, we already know of jackals working with humans so they have potential to join aswell, and since the Arbiter and Admiral Hood made peace treaty with a brute chieftain there’s the possibility of working with brutes aswell. Aaaaand since hunters have such huge respect for elites they might join aswell
I was interested in this idea a while back, and I even went as far as to ask Catalog on the status of the Unggoy following the Human-Covenant War.
Unfortunately, Catalog stated that there are no accounts of any Unggoy populations in service with the UNSC.

The Arbiter and Lord Hood… had a peace summit to discuss if the Brutes would agree to a cease fire and peace treaty… yet due to interuptions from Vata 'Gajat Remnant, Lydus and Arbiter settled for no peace treaty.
I’d love to see a Grunt with some sort of power armour, decent armaments and a professional stand in combat.
Breaking speicist stereotypes FTW.
I love this idea. It’s a real shame there weren’t any Grunt allies in H3 but I hope to have some in H5: Guardians or another future Halo game. I always did like the little guys.
While the idea seems great, I feel that all we would get are canon fodder who say nothing but ‘blue balls’, ‘food nipple’ or ‘demon’.
I’ve been wanting to fight along Grunts ever since Halo 2 first allowed you to. I’d love to fight alongside all of the Covenant species at some point. Hopefully we’ll further characterize these species in the games - the Grunts in particular. I’m hoping we don’t just hear silly jokes like Halo 1-3; it’s time we gave the Grunts dignity. Things like that can be reserved for the IWHBYD skull, anyway.
With the recent direction the Halo series has been going, I’m really hoping we will reunite all of the alien species together in peace. I think humanity will have to work alongside the Covenant to reclaim the mantle and stop the Flood.
i would kill every one of the grunt to watch them die!
except the one in the end of ce and 3 even though they are dead

I like this idea but there is one problem…
Grunts are lazy
Not only would I like to fight alongside grunts, but also jackals, elites and the arbiter.
Why stop with Grunts? I think it would be amazing to have a Halo campaign where the Flood has returned and is threatening the galaxy again, and you wind up fighting alongside every non-Flood faction to save the galaxy, possibly all together in a single mission.
Imagine fighting alongside not just Marines, Spartans and ODSTs, but also Elites, Brutes, Jackals, Grunts, Hunters, Drones, Sentinels and Prometheans, all working together simultaneously. That would be a spectacular mission.
