Gruesome Death Sounds should be dropped

Is it just me, or does hearing someone’s last breath choke through that new hole in their neck really take the fun out of it? I miss the old days where a simple “uh!” would suffice. Being spoonfed the DMR is enough, but having to listen to those god-awful sounds all day really grates on me. And is that a snicker I hear sometimes? What’s up with that?

I think the people sound more angry than in pain.

The death sound of a female spartan being assassinated is not what I would expect…

Well whatever their emotion happens to be, it’s lost on me. All i hear is gargling and screams of pain.

> The death sound of a female spartan being assassinated is not what I would expect…

Hearing that sometimes makes me feel bad

> The death sound of a female spartan being assassinated is not what I would expect…

But when she sprints, it’s SPOT ON hahaha

I like them. Gotta remember, we are playing a game with guns, and our objective is KILLING people. It’s a very gruesome concept, if you think about it.

Exactly, it’s rated M for Mature or rated 16 in the UK.

Yeah I liked the death sound when Chief falls of ledges.

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I get that it’s a not an activity with a high life-expectancy, but if a visceral and violent experience was the goal of Reach then I say they went half–Yoinked!-. Why don’t Spartans and Elites explode into shiny bits when you blast them with the rockets? Why does a Warthog stay clean after so many splatters? Because gentlemen, that would not be Halo amiright

By the way, the BR and DMR are what killed the population and drove Bungie’s eye away. Everybody hates on them for never answering any calls, but the rants these weapons started would have blackened anybody’s outlook on that forum. IMO

So please 343, tone down the throat squirts and eye-poppings. Anybody remember the headshot animation from Halo 1?

I don’t like the sounds either, and yes, the snicker is one of the least necessary.

Sounds horrible, but they match the appalling animations : )

(Oh, and the BR sure didn’t kill it for me) :stuck_out_tongue:

> (Oh, and the BR sure didn’t kill it for me) :stuck_out_tongue:

Same here. BR = Boss Sauce

Sounds gross.

Sounds good to me ; )

I could get into the logistics of why a burst weapon is out of place in Halo, but I won’t. I can respect your appreciation for the weapon that was built to be appreciated. I would be much happier about it if someone had a quick death now and then haha

Wow I actually absoultely agree with you I never really noticed but those really do make Halo Reach feel more serious and less fun.

I think that Reach’s death sounds are better than previous games, and I think that Halo 4 should have even more gruesome sounds. When you take down an opponent and you just hear “uhf!” as they fall, it’s… so lacking. “Oh, just killed a man. Business as usual. 'Kay.”

It’s the same principle as explosions in games, really. A small, pitiful “poof” of an explosion is boring and dull, while a massive explosion is exciting and adds to the sense of achievement that comes with destroying the enemy. This is the same principle, just with living creatures instead of buildings.

The original Halo’s death sounds were the best and so iconic and nostalgic, but they’d sound weird in the modern day. But yeah some of the serious aspects in Reach should be discarded for Halo 4 and go back to the irginal trilogy’s level of realism…

Well Cobb, if we want to get realistic, why do the Spartans broadcast their voices on the battlefield if no one’s going to say anything? Wouldn’t every death be silent? I think there should be a happy medium between the toned deaths of CE and the violence of Reach. ^Above is right, CE’s sounds might be odd in a modern setting.

I hate the way the female sounds when she dies.

And sometimes, she actually sounds like she’s enjoying it…

I usually keep my TV down because of it.
