Crouch jumping has always been an integral part of halo. Even though with chamber we don’t need it, I still like to crouch mid air in gun battles. This is so that I am a harder target to hit.
I’m sure as many of you will agree, crouching while in mid air is a completely natural thing to do as a halo player, however in this game I’m literally getting punished for it every fight because mid fight I stop shooting and start spazing out mid air due to pressing crouch.
I’m trying so hard to adapt and not do it but honestly I’ve played halo for so many years it’s going to take ages to stop this habit. That said I don’t see why it must stop, in my opinion crouching mid air during a gun battle adds to the skill gap and should be kept.
Who else agrees that ground pound should be changed to down on the d pad? It should be something you make a huge decision to do and honestly the current layout is ruining the game for me, I am seeing people randomly enter ground pound mode left right and centre for split seconds because it’s messing with people.
Who agrees?
How exactly do you ground pound? Stupid question I know but every time I start hovering, the target on the ground has an x on it and then I just fall.
I sort of agree, but not in the same way. I do indeed want it to change.
imo simply holding thrust while mid-air should put you into the ground pound mode, whereas click-release thrust is a standard thruster-dash.
Squat mid air should be the hover/slow decent mode, regardless of shooting from hip or ADS.
Ya I very much dislike how that is handled I have gotten like two kills with it but I try not to do them because they are so darn frustrating
I think it should be mapped to the melee

Aim to a spot that does not have the X, you need to be high enough up (jump from a ledge), then simply release squat.
Agree with the ground pound being linked to melee, since that’s basically what it is. I have been using Fishstick which seems to works really well except for ground pound. It is very difficult to jump in the air and claw your index finger to B and aim the right stick before someone guns you down.

That was my thought exactly when I first started playing I thought that was how it was done

Thank you. I am pretty sure that my elevation was the problem.

No that creates a similar problem.
Map it to down on the dpad. There it is a deliberate action and not an accidental action.
If it must share a button then share it with the grenade switch button.

How does it cause a problem? I rarely see anyone meleeing in the air…
if you’re accidentally hitting buttons you’re not paying attention enough.
100% agree, GP throws me off in the air. At the least I want Melee to animation cancel-too often I hit crouch mid air while trying to air melee and I instead do nothing.
