I played the beta but didnt really ground and pound much.
Been watching a bunch of multiplayer arena footage and G&P looks kinda OP
correct me if im wrong;
- direct hit = insta kill
- close hit = gets enemy 1 shot
- within proximity = knock some of their shields of
am i getting this right?
Yeah you’re right on. But remember you still have to hover in the air for a second, which is more than enough to get you killed. Basically you have to make yourself a target
Well … I don’t know. I maybe got 5 or 6 good ground pound kills during the beta. Not very many. I’m sure some are better at it than others. And maybe this footage was chosen because it was especially showy in terms of the abilities, but I certainly didn’t find it OP in the beta and they didn’t say they did anything to it since then.
I guess we’ll find out in 6 days!

Ground pound can do a lot of damage, but I find it quite difficult to pull off. I made many ground pound attempts in the beta, with only one leading to a kill and the rest leading to deaths
With stuff like this its all about exploiting weaknesses, during the ground pound there’s a definite lag period between activation and completion, so if you get up close with a shotgun, or a great shot from a sniper then you can probably kill them before they hit, not ever time obviously otherwise the ability would be pointless, but enough for it to not be TOO OP.
Looks like it’ll get you killed if a team is paying attention imo.

Agreed, If the people you’re against are on it and working together it’s going to be a very difficult move to make count.
Love it is singleplayer but it might be OP in multiplayer.
lol, no. I could not kill anyone properly with that thing in Halo 5. Also, the animation from 1st to 3rd person is pretty long so that’s plenty of time to get killed.
The thing with the abilities in H5 is they are not just rewarding, but also risky. Such is sprint as it blocks the recharge of your shields, and such is also Ground and Pound as it leaves you vulnerable in the air and puts you in a dangerous area if you miss and usually even if you hit.
I don’t think so. I hope the new ground pound will still allow to make pound jumps and other nice moves.
I think it’s pretty balanced. You have to trade a second or two of complete vulnerability to pull it off, and even then it can be tricky to hit people with

The changed it since the Beta. to get a 1hk, you need to be pretty high and it has to be a direct hit, otherwise you’ll just take down their shield.
I doubt ground pound will be used much in the main game, it wasn’t worth the effort to use it in the beta. It’ll probably be great in the campaign, but that’s about it.
I think groundpound should hurt you when you do it… The impact is the same on both ends. Buuuuut what I really think of it is that its the cheesiest -Yoinking!- thing Ive ever seen.
In the beta I only ever died to ground pound if i didnt see it coming and i probably would have still died in that situation if they just jumped at me and melee’d me. I dont see anything wrong with making a bad -Yoink- way to kill people if you happen to get the jump on them and they dont notice you… I have always killed people trying to ground pound me when I know they are there.
