I feel like these units should have to use a leader point too. Every other leader that had a unique unit has to use a leader point too access the unit, so why does forge and kinsano get away without having to spend a leader point on their dedicated unit?
well flamehogs and grizzlys are just upgraded versions of regular units while sentinels and skitterers are entirely different units.
You can replace Hogs and Scorpions with the upgraded variants. ODSTs, Sentinels, and Skitterers are entirely different. ODSTs are more tactical than marines (the demo charge is a trap, the grenade is direct), Sentinels and Skits are simply new and entirely separate.
Edit- And the biggest handicap to ODSTs is the inability to train them. They only come from SOEIVs.
As Shining Caliber said.
Also, the Grizzly kinda sucks. Actually, it really sucks. It’s way too slow and underperforms the scorpion on damage thanks to canister shell, just like in HW1. It’s simply not worth the high cost and pop count. And the flame hog isn’t so hot (heh) since the mid-season balance patch either. It’s a leader point that would never be spent.
On second thought, maybe they should make it a leader point for the Grizzly. That way, Forge could use scorpions and be slightly more balanced, lol/
It just always seemed odd to me that those two leaders got their specific unit without using a leader point I know they are upgraded hogs and scorpions, it would have been interesting to see them as at least a tech upgrade instead of getting them out of the gate

Flamehogs are great in the right hands. What I do is harass the enemy bases (they are only good for buildings and infantry now, not anything else) with them to the point they go anti vehicle or build tanks, then I bring in condors or hornets.
