grind grind grind

that is all this game is… .grind grind grind… the only objective is to earn credits in order to gain access to the armor i want… i must sell my soul to this game if i want any of the cool stuff… why can’t armor be accessible through achievements… i shouldnt have to spend everyday playing this game for the rest of my life in order to rock a cool looking security helmet or make myself extra visible to people with a blue cloud surrounding me… if halo anniversary is keeping this same multiplayer profile and you continue off your credits (i dont know if it will), will 343 revamp this? in halo 3 you could unlock armor through achievements and not through your rank… you had freedom of customizing your character after you completed such challenges that weren’t determined off your skill so you could be happy… although its not limited by skill now, it is still limited by a fixed time limit it takes to reach inheritor or w/e level for the armor you desire as well as the massive amount of time it takes to accumulate credits to reach the daily limit

the helmet i want isnt available till legend rank… if halo anniversary doesnt continue off ur existing credits why WOULDNT i just leave my xbox on with myself in firefight matchmaking? there is no way to accomplish this rank in a month… let alone for a casual player like myself to achieve that many credits since the game has been released

also…the only reason i completed the halo 3 campaign was due the the achievements necessary for hyabusha and recon armor… there is no incentive to play other parts of this game if your only into multiplayer… you get 2 ugly helmets if you do… big woop they arent anything special like in halo 3

So you’ve basically said that unlocking armour pieces keeps you playing the game. Isn’t that exactly what game developers want you to do?

it keeps the population playing in a negative way… there is no sense of accomplishment like in previous titles… this simply means you’ve devoted more time just to get a cosmetic item than you probably should have

yes its cool at first when you get your item but playing a game that encourages mindless grinding in order to accomplish/achieve something gets extremely boring fast… if you have ever played an MMO in your past and quit…its probably because you got sick of doing the same thing over and over and realized there is nothing special about what you’ve done except kill a million boars to get a cool sword

halo 3’s armor… atleast the hyabusha and recon armor were satisfying because you had to do something more than just play… a monkey could reach inheritor rank if it simply know how to keep itself in a lobby and press the trigger button so it wouldnt get kicked for being idle

point i want to know is if they will be changing this soon as well as carrying over your rank to the halo anniversary

What’s the point of getting armour items in a game you don’t enjoy playing? The purpose of that armour is to stand out in MM, by your reasoning you will stop playing when you get the armour you want, which is pointless and makes you play a game you don’t enjoy…

And I wouldn’t encourage you to idle via firefight as you find yourself quickly banned from earning credits

Something about Reach I just didn’t like grinding I usually don’t mind it, just something about it I don’t know but Reach grinding isn’t fun to me.

If you’re only playing the game for cR, then I’m afraid to say sir that you’re not playing the game at all. Credits, in some respects, are a deliberate incentive to keep you playing the game, but many people (yourself included) seem to take it too far. If you talk to a lot of CoD players, you might hear, “Come on I just want to get my level 70” or “Just give me that title so I can get off of this game”. Your complaints have analogies to that. If you seek credits more than an actual challenge or competition, then I suggest a change in venue.

i play this game for fun… the armor i choose is to please my own opinions about what the best look is… not to show off to other people

my point is that the way the system is, you will not ever reach your goal of obtaining those items unless you play an excessive amount

halo reach’s system takes the fun out of the game and turns it into a credit grind if your goal is to get a certain armor

my whole complaint is against that play style…

halo 3 had fun things such as finding easter eggs and completing achievements that may have been a little difficult to people ( killing frenzy in lonewolf/ overkill with laser)… halo reach has impossibly long grinds…

If your main goal is armor, you shouldn’t be playing. I see armor as a bonus for people playing a game they enjoy.

I guess the days when people played games for the gameplay is a thing of the past.

a. i play this game to pass my free time because i enjoy playing it; this means that unless im playing with friends ill play it for around 45 mins in a sitting

b. customization is part of a game and should be accessible through means that dont encourage countless hours of playtime

Halo’s CORE customization component is ARMOR… in order to have access to all of the options, one has to go through a very poor system to unlock it.

two perfect examples of GREAT systems are CoD and halo 3
I. CoD allows you to unlock all of the CORE customization options by the time you hit rank 50… there is no reason to prestige if you are a casual player like myself and every1 easily has the full benefits of all the customization options after an amount of play that ensures they are familiar with the game
II. Halo 3 allows you to unlock all of the CORE customization options through achievements… these achievements take a little bit of time but so does leveling in CoD… they are fun challenges that dont take much time and make the armor feel a little more rewarding

halo reach’s system is completely different… one can not enjoy this feature unless they grind grind grind as the title says

halo reach’s shelf life is not that long.

> halo reach’s shelf life is not that long.

You’re right. Reach is not on my shelf, it’s in my disc tray.

haha… i like it!

I half agree with the OP.
Gaining armor through achievements is fun and rewarding.
cR makes you play the game more.

= combine the two, have awesome looking armor for people who complete achievements, and still have the credit system and armory to satisfy the casual player.

My objective is to destroy noobs in matchmaking.
If i want to play some serious halo i do MLG customs.
