Me and my friends get really annoyed at it because we accidentally kill each other. Does anyone else feel the same?
I find it ok, you just need to be a lot more careful, it is part of the game really.
If I have the bomb and I’m running in trying to score, sometimes there’s one of my teammates in the way walking slowly and/or blocking the way. Sometimes you just need to be able to do a quick punch to the back of the head so you can go fast again. Friendly fire is great.

You’re right, because going around him would be stupid…

It can be crucial sometimes, moving around could put you into the sword lunge range, while your team mate who isn’t being useful, is blocking the only smart route.

Out of the whole entire map, you are blocked from all side except for directly in front of you and which a ‘slow moving’ team-mate would happen to be at?
I find that hard to believe.
I have found, however, that jerk team-mates like to stay in spawn and just randomly betray for no reason.
I think it would unbalance things a bit, people would just be swinging all the time. No need to be careful.
Greifers do ruin this playlist though. I’ve had team mates just sitting on my own spawn killing me over and over.
I just avoid Grifball now. If I want melee kills I’ll grab a game of Haloball Xtreme. I believe I went 88-24 in there before.
In addition to what TrueFlyingCow said, removing friendly fire just opens Grifball up to be a launch fest. That’s not what it’s about and it would completely ruin the game type.
The betrayals are a bit annoying seeing as it is so easy to kill a friend if your not careful, but removing it would alter the basic gameplay too drastically. Just watch dem radars!
Just be thankful betrayal booting isn’t on. I remember the ranked grifball playlist in Halo 3 had it and it completely killed the playlist for me. You were too scared to use the hammer in case you betrayed and got booted.
I consider it a part of the game. Sure, there are people who are jerks about it and spend the whole game betraying their teammates, but other than that, I think it works well in the playlist. It’d become a launch-fest if it wasn’t there!
I hate getting betrayed by my team mates on purpose, but what crazybydefault says is right.I just wished Halo Reach had a system where if you betray X amount of people in a game, or round, you get booted. That would make everything so easier!(As far as this thread’s question goes)
Betrayal booting was the worst. Not only were you scared of getting booted, but the respawn process took a bit longer because you had to forgive the person that betrayed you and you never wanted to boot them or else you would have a number disadvantage.
That’s what gives Grifball that oomph it needs to be full of shenanigans, and is one of the reasons why I like it to be honest.

Myself and a few friends were discussing this the other day and we decided if 343i got rid of the friendly fire/betrayal issue with grif they would have to get rid of the splash damage from the hammer to completely get rid of the hammer jumps, flowers and launches. However this would make it exactly the same as Halo 3 grif… and Reach is more advanced than Halo 3 and therefore Grif in Halo 3 tyle wouldnt be the right move to make. So my advise if you dont want to be betrayed, DONT rush in for the tip off at the start of every game (basically tart with a sword and defend from the opposing bomb carrier), AND stay away from your teammates. Either that or live with expected betrayals
