Griffball in Halo campain/lore ?

Hi guys,

Before I say anything let me tell you I have never read the slightest piece of lore regarding the Halo universe. I created this thread to get the opinions of more knowledgable people than me on a crazy idea that just went throught my mind: what if griffball was included in the Halo campain as a legitime way of training spartans ?

Griffball develops various spartan skills:
-Observation: always keep an eye on your radar/around you, because things are happening fast.
-Patience: it’s tempting to press RT sooner than you need to with that gravity hammer, but you need to strike at the right moment to beat your opponent.
-Agility: need I say more ? Especialy with the inclusion of the new movement mechanics, griffball would include REAL dodging.
-Cooperation: spartans need to work as a team and teamwork is crucial to winning griffball.
-Etc.

How would it work in the campain ? Obviously you don’t want to kill your opponents for real, so I thought the gravity hammers/swords used would be a modified variant that is less “powerful”. When they touch another spartan’s armor, they send electronic signals to the armor, activating armor lock for 5 seconds. So instead of respawning, you’re “out of the game” for 5 seconds. Players who are camping in the back of “locked” players just to spawn-kill them get a red flag and may go at the penalty box for 30 seconds. Yes griffball promotes fair-play and yes, armor lock is back muahahah !

Can you imagine blue team VS fireteam Osiris ? Or playing griffball against the Swords of Sanghelios ?

So, masters of the lore, is playing griffball with Sgt.Johnson only a dream ?

Well seeing as it is actually a gametype in Halo 4. I say yes it is canon. And seeing as there is a sports helmet. I kinda have to say Spartan Sports is a thing.

Maybe it exists as a variant of Gravball? I don’t think Spartans competitively compete in it as a public sport; that’s for athletes and entertainers. Most likely, they practice its for its value as a form of military training. It’s possible that some professional athletes may play it or practice a variant of it. But probably without the gravity hammers and energy swords, unless it’s a simulated sport. :stuck_out_tongue:
