People have complained that assault is a loved gametype that was removed. I agreed until I noticed the grifballl gametype.
I have been playing around with the settings. Essentially, it IS assault if you add it to your map, change the loadouts, use player loadouts, or even just use weapons you placed on the map. Now you have a good’ol assault game, albeit it is only neutral bomb.
Has anyone else noticed this?
What it lacks:
-A good explosion
-Asymetrical and symetrical play (only neutral)
-Cannot dissarm
If these could be added, it could work, but for now, Grifball can make an okay substitute.

I just added it to my custom map and it plays EXACTLY like neutral bomb!

I was actually thinking that Grifball could be modified for that.
The only problem would be that you cannot defuse bombs anymore.
Except it’s only neutral.
You can’t defuse.
And there is no explosion.

That and the the ball’s explosion is extremely weak.
Okay, so no explosions, no defusions. We need to rename Assault.
the problem is a stated above, the grifball is no longer a bomb but no an oddball… hence no explosion and no defuse and instance respawn when scored…they have to bring back assualt was one of the best gametypes
I understand that it’s not the same, but until we get assault or the game options to make grifball like assault, it makes for a substitution.

Probably for the same reason Flood is a gametype, despite being based off infection.
Both are fun VARIENTS of classic gametypes but should not be the standard.
Right not we can only play by 343i’s vision. Hopefully it will broaden in the future.
