Griffball and betrayal...

While playing griffball last night, I was kicked out of multiple games for betraying an opponent. Mind you, I had also been betrayed but chose to dismiss the screen that asked if I wanted to mark that person. A) I didn’t want to lose a teammate and b) it was clear I was betrayed while someone was playing the ball, not intentionally. I guess those who elected to have me kicked didn’t see it the same way. Still, I don’t see why there is even an option to kick in a game that puts folks in close contact with hammers slamming all around. If it comes down to killing me to get the ball carrier then so be it. In fact, once I was betrayed as I respawned because the carrier was next to me. Well, i’d rather they take me out and save the goal than the alternative. Same as in sports. If you see two defenders collide while stopping a runner at the Goal line (in American football) and one defender is injured, you don’t take the other defender out, too. Look, I understand that there are rules and we have to be sure you don’t have teamkillers ruining the fun for everyone, but it seems like we could ease up a bit in this one regard when it comes to games like griffball.

If there was no betrayal boot option, people would abuse Grifball all day long. Best bet is to be aware of your teammates’ positions at all times and keep plenty of space. The occasional betrayal isn’t going to hurt because you need at least 3 in a game for it to give the boot option.

Guess so. I’ll try to be more aware. Just sucks to get kicked, or wind up 1 or 2 down in an otherwise winnable game. There’s always next round.

OP… that is a sad story, my friend. First off, mad respect for not immediately pressing the kick out button. And yes, I agree with you about the betrayal boot system, it should ease up just a bit. Now… if it’s straight-up obnoxious team killing, there should be a vote kick that your team can summon.

Just remove friendly fire, it is so simple.

I think the difference lies with how the Gravity Hammer behaves in H5. In prior games it would only damage players directly in front of you. In H5 it has a broader range. The insane potential for betrayals is why I have played only like 5 total matches of Grifball. Hesitate too much and you get whooped. Attack at the wrong time and you betray.
