Why does Grifball in Halo 5 have a betray kick??? It makes no sense. It wasn’t in Halo Reach. I don’t believe it is in Halo. I go on a roll and get kicked because I accidentally killed a teammate in probably the most chaotic game mode ever.
There is another post saying the same thing, the last update made it very easy to get kicked and took out spartan charge
I remember Bungie goofing on that in Halo 3 and it was literally the worst. I was looking forward to that Weekend Playlist and literally could not finish a game due to kicking.
Hopefully they fix it, I never saw enough trolling in all my years of playing Grifball to justify a betrayal kick option. It’s just way too easy to betray accidentally in that mode.
Why? Because the game is full of fools who get their jollies team-killing.
To me, it’s a question of the boot threshold. I don’t know where it stands right now, but they said they increased it a few weeks ago. Perhaps it needs more tweaking.

While I’ve played games that have mass team killers (and if I wanted to prove my point further, I’ve played a match where I had to boot 3 teammates due to team kill trolling and had to do all of the scoring) the problem isn’t solved from making boot betrayal easier to do. All it does it cause the trolls to shift focus.
The better option would be to remove teamkilling.

The problem is that removing friendly fire changes the nature of the game - jump boosting, players going into any situation swinging for the fences, etc.
Despite notions to the contrary, Grifball is taken seriously by some and its settings reflect those used in competitive league play rather than as a social mosh pit (eg. Rift Ball).

Yeah, grifball gets kind of broken when you remove friendly fire. You can launch ball carriers all the way to the goal and a couple of other things. If you turn off booting all together you get an array of griefers worming there way from under their rocks and if they up the boot level too much then it just gives people an excuse to be reckless. There isn’t a good solution unfortunately.
