Grifball troubles

So i just recently have started playing grifball alot more because of how much of a credit boost it gives you these days.
However i see myself in a bit of a predicament. See, in order to get the maximum payout, you need to run out the clock and make sure they dont get a goal.

This is rather, difficult for the other players on the team to accept sometims, and i get quite a few betrayals/ hate messages coming my way when i do it.
Ive never been a huge fan of Grifball, and im not really a credit farmer, but im super close to reaching max rank in this game and it helps me a lot.

Is it considered douchey to play this way? And if so, why the hell would they give such a payout to reward this type of playstyle? God knows i’d rather play something more cometitive and interesting.

I’ll put it this way; I would not play Grifball with or against you if that really is your play style.

While I sympathize with your take on the situation, Grifball not being my favorite game type, and reasonably far down the list on what I’m gonna play, it is considered very poor sportsmanship to prolong the game if the other team has no hope of winning.

If you went about it in a way that made it at least seem like they stand a chance, then people might not have such a problem with it.

It doesn’t matter if the other team score or not, you still get a hefty payout by running the clock down,

But i’d agree with the above poster, i hate it when either team hog the bomb to prolong the game,

The object is to get the bomb and score the goal, so DO IT!!!

If you want a lot of credits and fast, custom challenges w/ the target locator on ONI Sword Base is the way to go.

i was gonna say the same thing. Custom challenges are the way to go.

I’ve been in a lot of games where it’s mostly about bashing each other, and then when the clock hits 30 secs, things get real serious.

Well, considering the point of the game is to Score the Ball to win, I think that yes, what you’re doing really is kind of a jerk way to play. I understand you’re doing it for the credits but I don’t agree with it at all. And I’m not just saying that because I’m sitting on millions of credits myself.

The credit bonus in grifball was supposed to be win-scaling. As in, the faster you win, the more credits you get but somehow it isn’t quite working out that way.

ONI Sword Base, Heroic ASO except for Iron and Blind. Make it to the Target Locater, wait for enemies then fire it and catch the checkpoint so that when you restart from last checkpoint, the Locater has fired but not hit. You should then be able to rack up kills.

Set the following custom challenges:

519 Medals
259 Jackel Specialists
173 Grunt Heros
173 Skirmisher Specialists

With the following restrictions:

Heroic difficulty
All Skulls On except Iron and Blind (select all then unselect Iron and Blind)

They are all worth 5000cR, so that’s 20KcR total.

Play for 2mins 25secs, restarting from last save after every checkpoint.

Quit.

Turn in challenges.

Set new ones.

Repeat restarting process for 2 mins 25 secs

quit.

First challenges pay out.

Repeat.

Keep an eye on the challenge payouts, sometimes the maths changes and you may need to up the kills, or decrease the number of kills for efficiency. Last week, 475 medals, 235 Jacks and 165 skrim and gunts got 20Kcr. Got uped slightly for this week.

i obviously play too much matchmaking, because i wasnt even aware of being able to set custom challenges. This is done how exactly?

You go to your service record, go to challenges and you can make them there. Don’t bother trying waypoint on the Xbox, you can’t make them there, you can only see the ones you have. The app is better because you can make them there and it’s faster than the site.

The Grifball winning award should have been implemented differently.

As it is, the longer the game goes on, the more credits you receive.

It should have been the opposite, the faster a team scores 3 times, the higher the payout. It can be up to 5 three minute rounds, with each round having a maximum of 30 seconds “sudden death”. So a max of about 17.5 minutes. If you win in under 5 minutes, you get the max “winning bonus” payout (which seems to be scaled to the player rank, which is appropriate), under 10 minutes, you get 75%, over 12 50%, over 15 25% (or something along those lines).

The way it is currently implemented, it encourages someone holding the bomb while teammates stat pad.

For Some reason, i tried to do that, but I don’t get cR. Is there something specific i have to put down? Like how many kills i need to make, etc.
