Has it happened with anyone else where people with the grifball try to run away and avoid attacking or being killed or scoring. This happens to me basically every other game.

I haven’t really played much Grifball so I honestly couldn’t tell you. Reach’s Grifball ruined the playlist/gametype for me.

I have been on both sides of this. I usually try & grab the grifbal though. Sometimes i like to take my time instead of just rushing in and dying… Many team mates take that as just stalling the game and try and kill you… The fact that the betrayal system is still in GB boggles my mind. People ruin it. I do my best not to betray but i can get betrayed multiple times in a row with no boot option… Just keep the same settings as rift ball, problem solved. As for people not trying to score, your best bet is to play with a team, as it is for every playlist in halo 5.
When i play Grifball as a duo with my wife, we don’t always rush, we slowly work our way up and if we get stalled, then we fall back and get ready to make another push. I am not sure if this is what you mean by avoiding attacking or running away though. Patience can be a great asset while playing the crazy gametype
There are three major causes for a stalled Grifball match that I can consistently identify when playing the game mode.
-
The enemy (or friendly) player might be stalling to drain the clock, camping the ball with no intention of scoring, or just doesn’t want to give up their ability to have extra shielding and a stronger melee weapon (the ball itself, with the usual intention of using it to rack up a lot of kills).
-
The teammates of the Grifball carrier are not fending off the enemies enough to warrant a push, or are not opening up a lane that the ball carrier can advance in to make it to the other team’s goal.
-
Most simply, the person in possession of the ball has no idea what they’re doing or doesn’t how to push and utilize the advantages that being in possession of the ball offers. The ball carrier themselves can help the team maintain map control, and some people aren’t aware of that.
There are probably many more scenario-specific reasons for a stalled Grifball match, but those are the three main reasons that I am most commonly faced with when I play Grifball. I hope this sheds some light on the situation and helps you understand people’s thought process when in possession of the ball.
I’ve only played Grifball once in H5 (since it’s apparently the only playable mode anymore) but if it’s anything like the Reach one, the OP description is probably all you’ll ever see.
Well, that and constant and intentionally only killing your own team.
