Grifball Peace Matchers are the worst

Every match of Grifball I find in the Grifball playlist are of people who only want to cheat the system and farm endless amounts of credits for Halo Reach. I can’t find a normal match where I’m not spawn trapped or where all people do is peace match. The Halo Reach Grifball community is straight up trash and something needs to be done.

I have the exact same problem, it’s hard but I’ve found people who know how to play a Grifball game

Yeah Reach’s Grifball farming is as bad as Halo 5’s Warzone farming. Something should be done but it’s probably not going to happen at this point in the game’s life.

Hey guys, I read this and you are right through LIVE Code of Conduct about the ‘Peace Matches’ and Spawncampkilling. I’m going to copy and paste here something from the ‘Why did I get banned?’ thread.

From said thread:

Actually it is harder than you think (To get banned) if you play the game properly, simply:
-snip-

  • Don’t exploit gametypes, game functions, and/or glitches to boost cR, Commedations, and K/D.-Not limited to but including as examples:
  1. ‘Peace Games’ in Grifball
  2. ‘Spawncampkilling’ to statpad, boost cR and Commedations. It is one thing to do so for a couple of seconds to score an objective as that is strategy, but to do so repeatedly for extended durations for boosting purposes is cheating due to exploiting the objective gametype, and if reported by enough people through LIVE’s Report feature can lead to a ban.
    -snip-

The people who do these things may argue that I am wrong, but I know otherwise. Spawncampkilling and ‘Peace Matches’ are exploiting an objective gametype to statpad and boost cR instead of playing it the way it was meant to be played and in many cases also is unsporting due to ruining the gameplay experience for others who want to play the game legit; griefing.

Due to this, you can use the features LIVE has available to report said individuals. Basically you Submit Player Review and avoid the player, Unsporting Conduct being the reason (As I proved above what they are doing is indeed unsporting) and then file a report, Cheating being the reason. This is not abuse of LIVE services due to those players violating Code of Conduct, and if they are properly reported enough for their actions, they can earn themselves a ban.

Also, if you are playing Reach on the Xbox One, Submitting a Player Review against said players will lower their reputation, and if that happens enough from their actions, they should only get paired up with other people with low reputation, which will essentially force them to stop doing so if they want to raise their reputation back up.

The features are there provided by LIVE, as there likely won’t be a fix from 343i’s end. Use them and they should help.

I wouldn’t exactly say it is the Reach Grifball community. There are some respectable players who play grifball, including members of the AGLA. Its the trolls and cheaters who do this and there are alot of them. Basically people who feel they can justify cheating (That Code of Conduct doesn’t apply to them when they agreed to that binding agreement when they created their LIVE account), people who do so simply because they can, and those who like to grief and troll (Usually packs of four people at Inheritor status partied together). Just have to use LIVE’s provided features to handle them.

I’m only saying it’s the grifball community because the people who peace match far out number the people who want to play fair. i constantly report the cheaters on xbox live but as usual they never do anything. The one time i go afk for 7 minutes because i was asked to take the trash out, i get cr banned.

I mistook your context, sorry about that. I dislike when people who exploit and cheat this way tell others if they don’t like it that they should get better. Yeah, you know, because having a party of five-six players to either ensure a peace game carrys out or to spawncampkill the other two players clearly is ‘skill’ and note I’m saying that sarcastically.

If 343i wanted to fix this, these would be some solutions:

  • Making the maximum party size in Reach Matchmaking Grifball to 2.-With this suggestion, you couldn’t have teams of 4-6 players in the same party and game trying act out spawncampkilling and/or peace games unless they were to ask the other players every game, and if the other players say no, then the cheaters better expect to play the game right then. This would also prevent parties of 8 setting up consistent peace games.
  • Have a timer on the ball. With this suggestion, a player would be able to hold the ball for a duration. If a player exceeds said duration (Which would be a number setup by 343i so it would be fair), the game would boot said player and all players in the same party as that player from the game due to obviously cheating.
  • Not allow guest accounts in Reach GrifballPretty self explanatory.
  • Remove the Game Performance Bonus altogetherWith this suggestion, the core component that drives peace games is gone, making it pointless to idle and forces everybody to play the game.
  • Re-enable betrayal booting but increase the number allowed from 3 to 8-10.With this suggestion, only people cheating to help the other team spawncampkill (Or just being a jerk) will be able to be booted if they keep teamkilling, because a betrayal of 8-10 times seems pretty intentional.

If 343i were to implement all of these suggestions, peace games wouldn’t exist anymore, and spawncampkilling would decrease, but I doubt 343i would with the game being six years old.

true, I’m surprised 343 haven’t turned off the ban hammer in Halo Reach yet even with the amount of people who hack and cheat in the game. The ban hammer never catches the bad people anymore.

You can’t play endless matches. If you play too many you get cR banned. I’m not going to say your wrong, but typically the only reasons you get spawn trapped in peace matches is you a) kill someone (without crouching to say it was an accident), or b) you bumped into a party match that noone else wants you in. However, I happen to agree with the peace system. In such matches, I rarely have to listen to noobs complaining about losing and calling hacks against fair losses. Everyone agrees to play for fun and other correct reasons.

EDIT: I rarely play grifball to begin with, so don’t confuse me with the other people who play nothing but. I just choose to switch things up once in a while, then go back to SWAT.

So true… the ban hammer only seems to visit decent people. I had a person in my live party get temp banned for quitting a game that we all left because the other team was entirely made up of known hackers. However, as for the peace vs. objective grifball issue, when you first get matched up, ask what style is being played. If it’s not what you want, either adapt for a game or leave matchmaking and then return in a few minutes. I do this all the time, and never seem to get into any fights because I can play however the current situation calls for.
