Just noticed this today as my company was about to finish power weapon kills, but my games of grifball didn’t seem to contribute.
Considering the people that will stat-pad in Grifball all day long I wouldn’t be surprised if comms were disabled for the playlist, I just hadn’t heard anything about this happening, if it did.
It could be a patch that 343 did to prevent Grifball farming.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking, just would be nice to know.
If they did actually say this in a post, I’d be kind of surprised, because nobody in the three companies I interact with, nor my fellow grifballers mentioned it.

Makes sense, if it was done.
Grifball farming meaning for Commendations? Personally I don’t see a problem with it, especially since it’s rampant in warzone anyways, why would it matter that another playlist is affected.
It could be that the power weapons commendation require that you get kills with weapons you don’t spawn with.

If I’m understanding you correctly then that would mean Super Fiesta is broken as I earned all my power weapon kill commendations through that.

Well, in Super Fiesta you at least have a very good chance of spawning with loadout weapons. In Grifball, you only spawn with what is traditionally considered power weapons. I’m just spitballing, but maybe only playlists where power weapons aren’t necessarily "guaranteed’ work towards the commendation.
